Didn't fridges used to have the big cooler thingy on top? I think that's the mystery kitchen object.

The fox does have a door at the back of his room implying that there's a bit more depth to the image too, though that may just be the front door to their lighthouse...

That thing on top of the fridge is the motor/generator.

It was called the "Monitor Top".

As for their respective quarters;
Vulture can have an aerie in the top of the lighthouse (he can sleep up with the light, or perched on the railing - as long as he doesn't mind the occasional blinding light).

I'm guessing the door to the kitchen was located directly from the spiral staircase (or on the opposing/cut away wall).

Mikester is most likely correct that any furnishings that we don't see (ie; Fox' bed) is in the section that was cut-away.

And as for ...er... facilities, well... don't some lighthouses have those slim windows in their sides?
Large enough for some creature-men to hang a moon out there and use the sea as their own personal toilet.

Filthy animals.

The new Batman cartoon had these villains not too long ago.
They were college students who shot themselves up with some extract drug and became animal-people.

Fox was the manipulative sneaky-kid leader, Vulture was a goth chick and Shark was a big jock - AND he was a hammerhead.

-------------

I recall seeing these guys in that Doctor Midnight mini about a decade or so ago.

Good to see their original forms here.

Thanks Mikester!
As always, fun and "educational".

The model plane adds a little bit of whimsy to the Vulture's otherwise dour demeanor. That is some hot hot characterization.

I think the pots and pans are hanging over the stove.

I love the cozy domesticity of the Shark's lair. Gotta wonder what the Macy's delivery men thought.

All things said and done, that is one cozy hideout. If I were five years old, I'd read this story and fantasize about living in a lighthouse with submarine access with my friends. Okay, I'm fantasizing about that as I type.

I love the idea that the kitchen is so important in their cute little lair. And yes, that is an OLD-style fridge. My grandmother used to have one like that.

I wonder who the chef is?

Thanks for making me laugh out loud at work. Now they think I'm crazier than usual.

I think I've seen these guys before--did Dick briefly run into them in Nightwing #1 in the mid 90s?

I think they might have been in one of the many fill-ins during Dini's TEC run too...or was that another terrible trio with similar names?

Anyway, this is an awesome panel. I like the idea of villains as roommates.

The Terrible Trio also made an apperance on B:TAS in their classic getups, as three successful young idle rich jerks with fright masks.

And caleb, the Terrible Trio which appeared in Tec #832 were this same Terrible Trio, yes.

Is that a keggerator next to Shark's easy chair?

Is that a submarine of a huge larvae of some sort? Maybe it's that freaky blonde Bug Lady from the ISB?

well, I wouldn't want to eat anything a shark (who eats ANYTHING) or vulture (who eats CARRION) cooked, so I'd say the fox is the chef.

This kind of thing actually makes me sad. Back in '65, Batman was fighting an insidious plague: furries. In '08 . . . Batman's fighting . . . other heroes, I guess?

I don't know much (read: anything) about these characters, but if they're like most Batman villains, they're probably all ex-cons anyway, so the small living quarters probably wouldn't bother them so much as they've gotten used to making do in tiny cells.

One thing that seems to be missing for the Shark. Stairs to get up to the kitchen when he wants to eat.

They made an appearance in Brian Bolland's Batman Black and White story. Well more of a one panel mention/appearance, but they looked very cool.
