I kept turning to my wife when Reed & Sue (and Ben and Johnny) were talking about calling it quits and asking her "Could this be... The END of the Fantastic Four!?"
Plus, I wanted to know where the Beatles were at the wedding.

My fiancee took me to see the film for my birthday this weekend (she really, really liked the first one), and we were both extremely entertained by it. Very satisfyingly fun film from start to finish.

Did anybody else notice that the female Army officer was named...Frankie Raye? And with a scene of the Torch lecturing her about responsibility, I half expected her to step forward and volunteer herself as herald at the end of the picture.
Luckily, no, that didn't happen.

Enjoyable film. With all of the 2 hour + films released lately, I would have enjoyed it if it went a bit longer than 90 minutes. I wasn't too bothered by the lack of a comic version Galactus. I'm afraid a CGI 50 foot giant with a horned helmet might have looked a little cheesy. A real spaceship would have been cool though.
I liked when Reed was checking other planetary systems and noting that life had ceased on some. So Richards is studying the universe, opening the way for Skrulls and Kree in a future installment.
All in all, a good installment. Bring on FF3.
Mike, I like the 1st film also and it holds up well to repeated viewing.

I, also enjoyed the film. Johnny Storm as Super Skrull kind of irritated me though, because I'd always been of mind that the reason the four could defeat him time and time again wasn't because of powers but because they were seperate individuals bound as a family.... blah blah.
What was sorely lacking, though, was some Galactus dialog. "Of what import are brief, nameless lives.... TO GALACTUS".
Oh, and no Uatu. Thumbs down on that one.

I thought it was fun, mostly. It wasn't great, but it had a lot of fun moments that almost added up to a really fun movie. My wife, on the other hand, said she was bored and waiting for stuff to happen for a lot of the film.
But yeah, I'd go see FF3. Only problem is they jumped to cosmic so quickly, it'd be hard to have, say, a Thinker movie or a Puppet Master movie. My prediction? Negative Zone.

I think the next film will go in the opposite direction. That is, I would not be surprised at all to see Namor and Atlantis pull a little old school "Imperius Rex!" action on Manhattan.

I lilked it. Fun and cheesy at the same time.
They packed a lot into 90 minutes and it went quickly.

Wow, how nice to see so many fans of this neglected stepchild of a franchise. I liked it, too, except for the dumbing-down of Sue Richards this time around.
And my gang thought that Stan's cameo would have been better if he hadn't ever actually said his name.

Mike you're not the only one, I sort of liked FF1 too and I agree with the above post it does hold up with repeated viewing.
I too enjoyed FF2 and find it funny how though the critics crucified it most fans posting about it say they enjoy it because - it was fun! I guess these days "fun" is a dity word (the new F-bomb) We can't have fun, oh no, we must be grim, gritty and filled with self importance.
Wow, a movie based on a comic can be fun, who knew.
I agree too that the only drawback were scenes that should have been added. I'd liked to have scene a series of "file footage" clips shown on the news show hyping Reed & Sues marriage, with homages to FF covers. A photo of FF#1, for example, so the viewers can see what this group has done to earn all their celebrity.
Overall, FF2, well done!

What am I reading here? The brilliant fanboy minds of Ain't It Cool News decreed long ago that this movie sucks. How dare you cross their wrath? Galactus being a cloud is the biggest crime to humanity since...since...putting flames on Optimus Prime. You need to hand in your blogging credentials, Mike. The Internet is very disappointed in you.

Am I the only person who got a bit teary-eyed at all the hugging? On second thoughts, I don't want to know. I'm sure it was just hayfever anyway. Ahem.

It wasn't great, but it was strongly good. The weak link in both films has been Doom, to be honest.
Bully, nice catch on the female officer's name.

You people are all CRAZY! Did we see the same movie? 'Cause the one I saw sucked.
Aww, I'm just being a big meany. FF2 gets points from me for an awesome Silver Surfer, some fun Torch/Thing interplay, and the fact that they made a superhero movie that is light, fun, and family-friendly.
The frustrating thing for me was the poorly written script - Pixar has shown us that you can make all-ages movies that don't have to be stupid. All the elements were there, except for a decent script.

It was a farce with great graphics. Surfer looked great, even the Galactus cloud was better than I had expected. The writing and acting was so achingly bad.
(megaspoilers)
1. If the Surfer could have saved his home planet by blowing up Galactus at any time, why didn't he do it before now?
2. Why would Galactus give him enough cosmic power to kill himself in the first place?
3. So Doom, a known criminal madman, has one piece of modestly helpful camcorder footage, so the army forgives him while locking the FF up?
4. And if they're locking up the FF, didn't it occur to anyone that Sue is INVISIBLE, and they might want to take precautions about that?
5. "Does it got a Hemi?" Oh, up yours.

I liked the movie, but thought that there was entirely too much wedding: the bachelor party sequence really, really dragged for me.
Also, I just don't get the idea that the Surfer could actually defeat Galactus: I could have bought "sacrificing himself to lead Galactus away" or something like that, but defeating Galactus should require a hell of a lot more than that...

Holy God, is that Brian Posehn as the priest marrying Reed & Sue?
In my book, the film get points just for that!

Wow, you surprise me, the film was weak and forgettable. And I can't believe you fell for that Dodge placement on the jet car bit, that is ridiculous and unforgivable.
