Remember Madonna and Fishsticks Paltro are "Artistes" of the highest degree..Can't you tell from the above lyrics and Fishstick's movies, View from the Top and Shallow Hal. How can anyone blame them for being so self absorbed and condescending...er..I mean confident and self assured..

Her lyrics don't make sense to me either:
In her "music" song from 2 CD's ago:
"Music makes the bourgeoise and the rebels"... (that's it, just a fragment of a sentence)
Having a BA in Poli Sci, I always thought it would have been far more clever for her to sing:
"music makes the bourgeoise WANNA rebel"
clever because the bourgeoise did not rebel, the proletariat do that but she didn't ask me. And she majored in "dance" in her one year of college didn't she?

Her new music sucks it big. She obviously was stung by the flop that was "American Life". But if you compare this new crap to Die Another Day, it doesn't hold up. And her performance sucked it big last night on the MTV Europe Awards. And all these idiots are saying how great it was. Jesus!!

JNo, you're not interpreting the damn song, you're fucking writing it all over again. Giving Madonna way too much credit there.
I think it is "music makes the burgeouise and the rebels/come together", which it totally doesn't. That is some serious Pollyanna shit. "If we all just listen to the same music (preferably MINE, cause I like money) there would be no more tension between the classes", that is what the dumb bitch is saying.
I like ffleur's version better. If it were "music makes the burgeouise wanna rebel", it would be clever commentary on the current social trends like the BoBos (Bohemian Burgeouise who try to be socially conscious).

Now I have to get the real lyrics to the song.
Here you go:
http://members.aol.com/RussC23/
m...usiclyrics.html
Yes, I was right. It is "music makes the people come together/music makes the burgeouise and the rebel" (presumably come together too!)
If it were just "music makes the people/music makes the burgeouise and the rebel", I'd completely agree with your analysis that music makes us be who we are, and that it is part of us (that sounds like "I've got the music in me", but it would still be far better than the crap she actually wrote). So your version, without the "come together", is also better than Madonna's.
This proves the theory that ANYONE can write music better than her. We have 2 better songwriters just here in this topic at DListed. Case closed.

Brent, back when her lyrics were written by others, the songs were good, the lyrics made sense, and nobody gave them a second thought. We just danced and sang along.
When she started her whole songwriting/spirituality/poetry shit, that is when the lyrics started confusing people.

I forced myself to watch the video from her performance, just so I'd know what the hell everyone was talking about. I'm now officially scarred for life. She needs to fire her stylist, in the first place... or if she made her own choices, she can just have herself committed. Actually, maybe she's already spent time in an asylum... it would certainly explain where she comes up with some of her ideas.

Until you too can sell 200 million albums, making you $600 million in 21+ years, however we diss her music or lyrics will not prevent Madonna from staying on top of the game. Hands down, whether her music is great ot shitty, she's still Madonna and there will never ever be another Madonna. P.S.-Her new album is actually one of her best.

That zephyr in the sky was her best song ever. It was the first song of hers I liked right away - all the others that I like I didn't like until 10 or 15 years later. Usually I hate her songs, especially cuz the used to get played constantly. And then after I got worn down and they seemed nostalgic, I started to like a few of them.
