Don't underestimate kids, though. If they are raised to feel loved and cherished by both parents no matter what, they can be pretty resiliant. They just have to know they have a place in their parents lives that is just for them and it is always available. Chances are, after the year is up, the boy won't want to live with mom anymore because he would have bonded with his dad. I bet dad knows this, too... hahhaa
