I always hated Meg Ryan but now I hate her passionately, after that remark. I saw it on Oprah and yelled at the TV so loudly, I scared my kids.
The reason celebs adopt overseas is that you can get them as babies - most kids up for adoption in the states are older, and they're just not cute then. Also, I think adoptions in the states are pretty open now, meaning that the kids can find their birth parents when they turn 18. What fun is that for a celeb? Then they will have these poor people hitting them up for cash when their ungrateful adopted kid finds them.

Someone kinda said this before, but....babies get snatched up here in a second. People are on waitlists for years before they get a baby. Most people don't want a toddler (sadly), so the older kids are usually the ones who don't get adopted.
Start bitching when celebrities start adopting 3 and 4-year olds from foreign countries. For them to adopt American babies, well...they're just taking children that would have been adopted anyway (and you better BELIEVE they wouldn't have to wait as long as normal people). At least adopting a Chinese girl is saving a life, regardless of superficial motivations.

In addition, most of the states have laws in place that give birth mothers/fathers the right to get their child back, some states are even as lenient as 3 months I believe. I know a couple who will not adopt in the states because of that reason.
Instead of changing the name from charlotte to daisy, she could have given her an asian name, since that's the only piece of her culture she'll have unless meg is gonna teach her chinese.(as mentioned people probaby adopt overseas because it's easier to get a baby. also it's "trendy" now.It used to be cool to have a biracial kid, but now asian is in.)
