on topic: I don't know where they are in this pic, but in CA it's illegal to ride a bike w/o a helmet..for adults and children..
my kids are 9,10 and 11 and i still NAG them on wearing helmuts yet I dont wear one but I am an adult...an adult that comments on DListed! no doubt but I refuse to have kids with vegatables for brains if there is a bike accident

Ryan seems like an otherwise responsible parent who just made a BAD decision...Unfortuneatly(sp) one bad decision is all it takes...I don't have kids, but I imagine sometimes parents can slip up(ie: letting kids sit in the front seat of a car, forgetting to put on the seat belt, no child seat, no helmet) but most of the time its not the parents actions that end up injuring the child..its some random A$$holes...well we ALL know Reese will chew him a new one

Yo Raider, Maddox was on a bike out in the country in a dirtpatch, and YES he DID have a helmet on.
What if a car hit Ryan and his son, that kid would go flying and his head would hit the pavement like a melon hitting asphalt. Brain injuries are not pretty, and usually not reversable, the damag is forever IF you survive at all.

helmets suck balls! seriously, if you get hit by a car a helmet aint gonna do jack shit when you've lost your leg and arms. the only reason you'd wear a helmet is if you were speeding like 25 miles per hour and you crashed into a car and went flying but most people ride 5-12 miles per hour. The kid looks like he's strapped in and ryan is probaby going like 6 miles per hour. If a car crashed into em a helmet wouln't help.

JESUS CHRIST: The time that a helmet WOULD help is if the bike were knocked over, and the baby went down with the bike and hit his head on the pavement. The boy should at least get a fighting chance, in any case. I get your point though, it's true about a speeding car, etc. The helmet would not work in that case.
Regardless, it is California law that requires one if you are under 18, but again.......these Hollyweird celebs believe that the laws do NOT belong to them, and they can do what ever the hell they feel like doing.

My 3-year old nephew ended up in the ER on Xmas because he was riding a bike and crashed into a brick wall. He had a nice huge gash on his head, but the helmet he was wearing had the biggest dent. Doctor said if he wasn't wearing that helmet, his injuries woud've been a lot more serious, perhaps even deadly. And yes, it's the law here in California to wear a helmet if you are under 18.
If you read the caption, it says they are in Toronto. Is it the law there to wear helmets? Maybe they dont have them there and dont require it.
They aren't in Toronto they're on Venice Beach where most people riding along the beach don't wear helmets. He should put one on the kid just in case but I don't think this compares to dangling an infant from a balcony or driving with one on your lap.
Ever go to a hospital where there are kids brain damaged from bike accidents, because parents are fucktards and don't put a helmet on their kids head. Actually (sort of off topic) Toronto does have a helmet law as well. Anyone under 18 must have one one on. Geez, some of the families in my neighbourhood make their kids wear helmets outside all the time when they're playing.
