In the old days it was because of religious morality and stuff. Today it's because of money. No one will pay to see a film where the leading man or action hero is gay. It's just like that. Even if all the closeted gay actors came out all at the same time it wouldn't change anything. So, the whole 'standing up' for the cause by coming out doesn't make sense either. That's prolly why none of them do it. It doesn't make financial or professional sense and it won't help the gay 'movement' either (if there is such a thing).
