In This Skin bombed when it was first released. It was rereleased with a few new tracks after Newlyweds debuted and elevated Jessica's profile, and THEN it sold better. Curse that Newlyweds show! If sales hadn't picked up she probably would have been let go by Sony. Jessica, much like her sister, is nothing more than a joke to music critics. Her music really, really sucks. Seriously.
She'll NEVER come close to the commercial AND critical success that other female pop superstars like Madonna, Mariah, Whitney (back in the day) and Janet have achieved during their careers.

Unless they can make her more talented, less cheese-rat, and have better songs (cause her voice now sounds fake and way too breathy like Britney Spears, but at least Britney's songs were good to dance to)...I don't think Epic will do shit for her "singing" career (though at this point her career is more just being Jessica Simpson).

Her record will not sell more than 500k. And I think that's over estimating its sales. Her second album (don't know its name) sold so poorly that she owed Columbia between 1-2 million for the money they spent trying to promote it.

I think it's good that she's going back to music, where she belongs, and I don't mean all this recent shit. I'm not a Jessica fan or even much of a pop music fan, but the girl had some great pipes before all this Newlyweds shit and the transformation of her image. It was the only talent she ever really displayed.
Jessica, I agree with you...she does have a good voice. She looks gorgeous on the album cover too. It's too bad about they way she is managed...she does WAY to many endorsements (Dessert products, Pizza Slut, Proactive, etc.) to be taken really seriously as an actress or as a musician.
I'd give one ball for the chance to stick a rusty icepick into Jessicas' voicebox. One.

i posted a link to this ishh weeks ago MK, so i guess that 35mil contract was all bullshit...her next album will bomb take my word for it. Ashlee sold 2.9mil debut and less that a 1/3 of that her second album. her third will be lucky to register on the billboard. Jessica wont sell shit for sure.

A.They had to release the album three times over three years.
