I totally agree with you, Mia, on the whole keeping it real in the UK thing. Granted my exposure is limited to BBC America and whatever magazines I can find it the local stores but it really seems that at least on some level there is an attempt to keep things non-glossed over. The people on the sitcoms and television shows still actually look like real people whereas in the US they are all way prettified to the extent that it's harder to identify with them on so very many levels...
