i always thought if she in fact had an eating disorder, the press certainly wasn't helping by getting angry at her for being so skinny. people with eating disorders are the last ones to see themselves as skinny so it would make her feel worse. that's why she didn't identify as having a problem then. yet the same press celebrates star's weight loss. they want them to be skinny but not look too skinny. i wish they'd apply the same standard to men - be skinny and have big tits.

I remember Audrey Hepburn saying in an interview that she starved herself all her life. She said that it was before she was an actress and ity started during the war. She prided herself in eating as little as possible (food was seriously rationed back then)and it continued throughout her life.
That was an interview she did, I think in the L.A. Times, right after her last appearance at the Oscars.
It's about time Calista admitted what was wrong, but I'm not mad at her. That's what performers do. Deny, deny, deny. First of all, they're control freaks with their image, secondly, they live in a fantasy world, on top of that, they've got people around them telling them to deny, deny, deny.

Bearcat, she never said she was anorexic, at the time of the interview (late 70's early eighties' I think)anorexia wasn't as widely known, but your right, that was basically anorexic behavior.
I remember seeing some pictures of her in People magazine several years ago, that showed the ridges of her backbone in a low back dress. I think Libressa is right about the celebrities knee jerk reaction to deny any, and everything for PR reasons.
It is insulting after a while though. Like admitting it now serves any real purpose but to show that this disorder, like alcoholism is based on self delusion, and lies.
I don't know whether Audrey Hepburn had Anorexia Nervosa, but she grew up in Nazi-occupied Holland and was severely malnourished during puberty and had health issues due to this - so that would be one reason for her incredibly slight build.
