let it be known, the DFCS does not go around randomly visiting homes. although it may be 'standard', i think it's evident that with all the help and money she has, she still sucks at being a mother...because we all know you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl.

Some fishy shit is going on. Babies that aren't mobile, i.e not crawling, walking, do NOT hurt themselve on their own. It wouldn't be out of the question that he's crawling at seven months, hell, he might even be engaging in some furniture surfing, but it's pretty unlikely. Even if you don't stap your kid into a high chair, you still have the tray that locks into place. I don't buy their story for one hot second.

Can you even imagine what a day in the life of these people is? I always wonder what a lesiurely day for them entails.
In her case, she probably wakes up at noon and lets the nanny go on break while she turns her back on an unstrapped-in SPF to fetch some red bull. They probably spend the rest of afternoon getting tipsy/high while watching old episodes of Cribs to compare themselves to other celebrities. Then, for the evening they probably dump the kid off on someone else while they go out to dinner and treat the restaurant staff like shit. Then end the night with more greasy sex to create more unwatned children.
What ever happened to her dogs with their own bedroom?

last night i was feeding her and she must have inhaled instead of swallowed, she made this horrible choking sound for like 5 seconds, i started screeching at my husband that 'the baby's not breathing', then she coughed, and started eating again like nothing happened. it took me a good hour to breath normal again and i did NOT have agood nights sleep. i can't comprehend not totally freaking out and taking her to a doc iF she FELL out of a CHAIR onto her HEAD.

My first daughter tripped and smashed her nose on the pedestal of our dining room table when she was just starting to walk. She had a HUGE red-rapidly-turning-blue bump on the bridge of her nose and I RUSHED her to the ER.
The doc there treated me like shit and laughed at me for being an "overly cautious first-time mom."
Holy God! I damn near killed him. I read him the riot act and shut him the fuck up real fast. LOL!

The first pediatrician I ever took my daughter to, was the absolute WORST ever. I only went to him because he was on rounds at the hospital, and didn't know I could take the baby to my GP if I wanted. Anyhow, he was the most condescending asshole I ever encountered. You'd think a pediatrician would be used to dealing with over-protective mom's but, but this guy had no respect, compassion or understanding. All doctors should be made to take 'bedside manner' courses when they become doctors, and if they fail that, they can't be a doctor. Jerks.

bugspray- after i was sent away TWICE from the hospital the night i had my daughter (the hyperactive first-timers excuse), i realized doctors are just human and sometimes they're too busy and have a stick up their ass when they should be listening to their patients. sometimes the only way to make them listen is to throw some obscenities at them and have your water break on their feet, if possible.

Hey MizRo, VH1 did a special called Britney's Secret Childhood. From what I saw (last 15 minutes or so) Lynn really controlled Britney's life and was pretty much just a stage mom who was determined to get her daughter famous regardless of the family finances or her daughter's happiness. So I don't know if Lynn would really be a good judge of what's best for anyone but herself either.

Star Magazine is notorious for lying. If it's true....it's sad. My nephew rolled off a bed when he was 7 months old and fractured his skull...it was a hairline fracture and luckily did not result in any longer term injuries. I am having a hard time believing this story. Did they just plop this kid's ass down in a high chair and leave the room? Where was the hired help? If they don't want to sit with the kid while he's in a highchair they need to make sure the help watches him.

And nowadays the highchairs are designed so that the kid is not likely to climb or slide out, even if you don't strap 'em in. The companies don't want to be sued so they make these crazy-ass-looking highchairs that look like they come from the Space Shuttle.

I'm almost speechless about the fact that they waited days to take little SPF to the hospital. Excessive sleepiness is a bad, bad, bad sign after ANY head trauma - could mean a concussion, subdural hematoma, skull fracture with a bleed, etc. I would bet that if he was examined immediately, one of his eyes would have been dilated more than the other. I would have called 911 immediately, no waiting about it AT ALL! This child really does need to be removed from this home until such time that Britney gets a) a psychiatric evaluation and/or b) some health industry sponsored mothering classes. I am beyond appalled. I don't know if she is just stupid, doesn't care or was too scared because she knew she had f***ed up royally. But regardless, nothing should have come before the safety of her child.

Okay, i jujst have to say this. I DON"T THINK SHE IS A BAD MOMSay all you want but the fact is babies do fall. My son fell off his change table at 3 onths old. I didn't bring him to the hospital. I just kept an eye on him. The media is doing everything to make her look bad right not.
However I don't think she should have been driving with him on her lap. But just because a baby has a head injury does not mean the mom is bad.

She should have never had a baby. I agree that babies do fall. But I'm sure that the nanny told them that he fell from his high chair. Once a child falls and hits his head, you're not supposed to let them go to sleep for at least a few hours just to observe them. They are stupid for not noticing this sooner. Babies' skulls are not fully fused together yet at that age. They are total idiots for not taking him to teh hospital that same day.

This is SSSSSOOOOO typical it makes me want to puke. The DCSF (or whatever the fuck they call it in CA) will make an investigation over an ACCIDENT (albeit a very stupid accident) yet when a child is really being abused, what will they do? Natta, squat, nothing, zero, zilch.....they will tell you to wait until the child is dead then file charges.....
I hate the department of social services in this country.....when you need them, they do nothing for you. When you don't need them, they take your child away.

crazycajun, As a person who volunteers with neglected and abused children in Los Angeles, your statement about California's child protective services is false. I can give you a long list of success stories about children who were taken from abusive homes, but the media is never there to report them. You only hear about the few cases where they failed--and if you knew how many cases they deal with, you would realize the percentage of success stories is pretty high. It is often extremely difficult for authorities to come in and take a child in abusive situations, because you have to have extreme proof and in many cases, the parents, families and neighbors will lie to keep the children there.

anon 12:15 - such a can of worms you opened for me on my own birthday - what a facking mess....
my 9 year old stepdaughter had a black eye, bruises on her jawbone, bruises on her back and her legs when she was 2 1/2....her mom's boyfriend was abusing her. we called child services (of course I live in the fucked up state of LA) and he told us he had seen children in the hospital with coathanger marks on their backs and there was nothing he could do for them. he said he would pretty much have to wait until it was "too late" to do something about it...in other words, until they were dead! needless to say, she showed up at our house ONE WEEK LATER WITH A BROKEN LEG......they did NOTHING for us! they warned the mother they were coming and she was on her best behavior during their stupid home inspection. CASE CLOSED!
So, while I appreciate you defending the agency in California, especially since I have no idea what they are like in California, in Louisiana, they are a JOKE.

P.S. Not to be rude but I don't CARE about your long list of stories because I have one heart wrenching story of my own.

crazy,
your story is proof of my last sentence. The agency often wont do anything (due to state laws) because people cover it up!!!!! Your stepdaughter's mom is the one who should be shot!!!
So, I'm sorry to hear about your story. That is pretty sad. White trash at its finest. If I were you, I would've beat the mom's boyfriend and the woman for standing by such a guy. I wouldn't have backed down, even if I was calling the police every five minutes on these people. Honestly, your post made me so mad--I would've kidnapped the kid from these loony white trash relatives of yours.

And crazy, I hate to say this but child services in Louisiana is probably a far cry from that in California. We saw how your state responded to the people who lost their homes in the hurricane. There's a reason why people want to move to California.
And yes, our child protective services respond to all complaints. What happens if they didn't respond to reports that Britney hurt her child? Would that be better??? Does anyone really know if Britney's kid wasn't purposely abused? Better to be safe than sorry in ALL cases.

Anon 12:15 - I'm not sure if you will be checking this because it has already "rolled over" into archives but....
We did "kidnap" her and we held an emergency court hearing in front of a judge the following day. As my stepdaughter sat there screaming because she didn't want to go back to her mother, the Judge ordered us to return her to her mother....only stipulation was that she not leave the child alone with the abuser....I guess she didn't listen very well, hence poor baby's broken leg. To top that off, the mother disappeared with my stepdaughter for 3 months after that and we had to find her through 1-800-US Search!
Believe me, I wanted to kill the bitch and I still do to this day. I cringe when I have to speak to her. With regard to the guy that actually committed the abuse on her, God forbid my husband ever runs into him on the street.....I suppose I'll be bailing him out of jail on that note....

Yes, I am reading this board still. I'm glad you followed up on it. I feel sorry for the girl, and the judge should be shot!!!
Yep, there are flaws in the system and there are horrible evil people out there who don't give a damn. I have seen both ends of the spectrum. Unfortunately there are laws that protect the parents in these situations. And unfortunately there are people who really dont give a crap in their jobs (like the guy from child protection services in your case).
I know you were unable to do much in that situation. I witnessed a similar situation in my own life--psychological abuse rather than physical abuse. I could not do anything about the situation, except start volunteering my time with abused and neglected children. It may be something you might want to consider, since this subject is very important to you.

anon 3:54 - WOW, I didn't think you'd check back on it! It's nice to get an opinion from someone who is really trying to help kids in need! I applaud you and wish there were more people out there like you! And, thanks to the idea....I have 3 young children now so I don't have too much extra time to devote to such a cause but I will most definitely give it some thought in the future.....
With regard to the judge being shot, I tried to get an opinion letter published in our local newspaper about the issue of how pathetic our social services program is in Louisiana. The last paragraph of that letter was as follows:
"The welfare of our children is at stake based on whether or not you have sufficient riches to go into an “all out battle” for your children. You cannot count on the legal system, including the D.S.S. and Judges, in hopes that they will protect your children because they will NOT!"
The local paper wouldn't print it because they SAID I didn't have any solid proof that anything happened to her, despite the fact that I had pictures, ER records, etc., etc. They should've just told me the truth which is they didn't want to tarnish the reputation of one of our local hometown judges!
Anyway, thanks for caring! Not only about my situation but for all of the helpless children out there you are helping!
