I've never had a baby, and my stalker will probably take issue with this, but why do you fools keep letting your newborns sleep in the bed with you??!! I saw this documentary on this woman who killed FOUR of her babies by rolling over on them in the night, and it took months of research by a medical examiner to figure out what the problem was! I could have guessed in a nanosecond! Babies rolling off the bed, getting tangled in the sheets and smothered, and rolled on top of is not safe, especially if the mom is a deep sleeper! And damn, who wants the kid to get toddler-sized and still be sleeping with them? I mean, damn! Ok continue on.
Shouldn't the baby still be in a cot at his age? And junior beds have safety rails on the side, so there is no excuse for SPF falling anywhere.

I have a few kids of my own, and they used to sleep in my bed when they were babies. It was cozy and easier to breastfeed them, and there is research that it's beneficial for newborns because they feel secure next to mommy. Interestingly enough, sometimes newborns can have an apnea like condition, where they neglect to take regular breaths. When they sleep next to mommy, the mother's regular breathing and movement of her chest helps the child regulate their own breath.
The truth is that co-sleeping is not dangerous as long as there aren't sheets and blankets around the baby, the baby does not use a pillow, there is a bed rail, and MOST important, that you do not drink or use drugs at all and are not fat. 99.99% of people who end up smothering their kids have consumed some alcohol or drugs (that includes even a simple glass of wine) or are obese. I'm a teetotaler, and I think that makes a big difference in your awareness.
