One of the big reasons for this breakup has to be the age difference. She is in her mid-30's and he is essentially the same age as her dad would be. Not saying huge age differences don't always work, but I would find it hard to be with someone that much older (or younger). Also, if you read her book, she comes from a horrendous childhood--her parents abandoned her and she was living on the streets as a young kid. That's gotta mess up her mind somewhat. Long before she met Paul, she was doing amazing humanitarian work in countries that Angelina Jolie wouldn't dare to venture in. In fact, she puts AJ to shame.

He wanted a young woman, she wanted fame and money. Sounds like a pretty straighforward transaction to me.

What her ex-husband was mad about was...I'm trying to remember from the article I read. He said about her "If she told me it was raining, I would have to go outside to double check". He even begged her to attend counseling before they got married so she could deal with her habit of lying about everything. She confessed that she shoplifted jewelry from his store (He was a big-time jeweler in London) and hocked it to buy herself things, he had to turn her into the police. She proposed to him, then left the country, only to come back a couple of years later, wanting to be married. He took her on a ski trip for her birthday, she fell for her skiing instructor, so she told him that she had modelling assignments and left the country again to be with this other guy. It could just be bitterness, but it sounds really sketchy to me.
