Trolls have always been a part of the Internet. They are never going to go away, never! If you get pissed off at the trolls and leave, you'll find trolls at the next place you frequent on the internet. The only solution is to make your own private discussion forum or mailing list that requires a person to register with the forum or list owner. But even those go haywire. I was on a listserv mailing list where we discussed the particular breed of dog that we all had. At first everyone was all lovey-dovey. Eventually that all changed and the list was shut down because cliques developed. There were major bitch wars and shit.
Also it's nice when there is a moderator, but the moderator has a life and can't watch the damn thing 24 hours a day. It was the July 4th holiday weekend for chrissakes.

Even though we are anonymous, there is at least a small rapport established between people here (see your above comments - you are attempting to establish a positive rapport, albeit on a small anonymous level, with someone you don't really know.)
A lot of the regulars have been coming here for over a year and have gotten to know a little about each other, and MK's site is a little getaway from an otherwise grueling workday. And, most of us (at one time or another) encounter hate or prejudice in the workplace, on the sidewalk, in shopping venues, in crowds, etc. because we are white, black, foreign, straight, gay, short, tall, thin, full-figured, bald, different, pretty - pick a category, an attribute, a religion, a mindset...I could go on. There are websites established with the goal in mind to insult, ridicule, hate, etc., with a certain target market in mind. Those people will enjoy a rant and rave, an attack on other posters, and even a small portion will find racist outlets for themselves. I've just never gotten the notion that MK's site promotes those things but, rather, is about snarking on celebs, sharing info and opinions about them, and (to a smaller degree) having some good-natured disagreements back and forth between posters. The hate and the attacks cross the line and usurp the intentions of MK's site. I don't visit the overt rant and rave sites, especially those that spew hate and attacks because I don't care for that type of exchange and don't consider it entertainment. I come here where it's usually lots of fun. I've seen what's gone on over the last year with other posters, and there have been times I've been the target of some of the trolls. I agree that we don't need to be chased away by trolls, because that impacts MK's hits on his website. But, I can't ridicule any poster that needs to take a break when you have to put on waders to slog through the shit that's being slung at you. I have pretty thick skin, but I don't go anywhere to be abused, even anonymously. I think that's where some of the regulars stand right now. That being said, James Brown needs a good mirror, some anger management classes, rehab and maybe even a good, swift kick in the ass, preferably by the ladies he's bitchslapped in the past.
Stoney - I banned some of the racist fucks. That I agree with. They wanted us to ban Le Garce and he didn't really say anything offensive or racist. He was giving them a hard time, so I understood that they didn't like that. But if we banned him we would have to ban everyone that went off topic and pissed people off.
Well Little Bunny Foo Foo was a big ole bitch to us at first, and we still love her! You can't just ban Le Garce because he's 'being mean'. That's just ridonculous. I guess people really might just need a break.
NO!, the regulars left because the MOD was deleting their posts....I was here when that happened on the weekend, Prico, Bonnie, Flowers and Daya were just talking and NOT even responding to La Garce and the MOD deleted their comments almost inmediatly. The MOD also said they were as bad as La Garce, they got pissed and left.
Yeah Stoney, we agreed and the mod agreed. And they were bombarding the mod with emails demanding Le Garce be banned or they were gonna walk. So the mod gave in, but didn't play favors and deleted all of LG's off topic comments as well as all the others ones. And they got mad and walked. LG is still around here somewhere. I saw him commenting earlier.
Stoney... I'm guessing people will trickle back in. Just enjoy Michael's posts, they are as hysterical as ever. Maybe some people needed a break.

Having been a lurker for awhile and having seen the posts in question, I completely understand both sides. I do not respond to most comments, but MK you are doing a great job. Sometimes a person needs to make a stand even if it is not a popular one. I enjoy the site and it breaks up my day and makes me laugh. Most of the time at the most inopportune moments. Keep up the good work. In time they will be back.

It's just unfortunate that some of the regs think that we come here exclusively to read what they have to say, and that gives them some right to tell MK how to run his site. that being said, i've always loved this site because of the off topic open discussions that took place. i really hope that doesn't change or become limited because a select group of people can't handle the responsibility of NOT being racist/abusive jerks.
