because if youre doing something to "help animals" and dont want them to die, than its VERY hypocritical. it may be hard to substitute leather (when youre a millionarie like paris, I'm sure), but its a lame excuse. a cow dies either way. as long as someone is up front about it ( ie, I dont want to give up animal products completely, but I will reduce how much I use them) its fine.
