Actually, since the words inside the quotation marks are not part of the entire sentance, having the punctuation outside is perfectly fine. Inside the quotation marks is the norm in the US, but NOT the only correct way to do it.

Grammar also depends where you had your education. Living in Canada I have studied American Literature and British Literaure and grammar and speeling are different between the two countries. For example in the US you use "" those as quotation marks but in Britian '' those are quotation marks. So it depends where you are educated. In Canada we tend to use both which can get very confusing and causes more mistakes lol

well morgan creek is an independent production company that finances everything, including publicity and distribution for the movies, i do not believe they receive money from other sources (unless they are joint producing on a project i assume). so i guess yea, he is independently wealthy? and yea, most producers don't have extensive education, producing is really a hands on, work your way up field so its perfectly legit that he is unable to correctly write.

When the production day starts, everybody makes it to the set for their call time, depending on what you're doing. The lighting dept gets set up, co-stars get hair and make up done, set dec gets everything ready, and all the other depts such as craft service, camera people, background performers all get ready to do their job. Then they wait for Blohan, and wait, and wait and when she doesn't show up, the production has to pay all those people for sitting around and waiting for her and they lose a day of shooting. That may be what they're talking about. Don't blame them for being pissed.

Working with actors is annoying period and when they dont show up and force the crew into OT and working extra days it sucks. Even when the actors show up and dont know their lines its frustrating b/c we have to do it over and over again. For the money they make they should be prepared! Julia is ready, Catherine Zeta Jones is ready, Nicole is ready, Amy Adams..all of these ladies come to work prepared. The letters i've seen pertaining to agencies and production companies always have the address and information (in different font) on the very bottom of the page. to those who say it is fake it was one the smoking gone which has affiliates with court tv and abc. no way are they putting half crocked shit up on their site. also it was on people and e online and will probably be discussed on all news shows. a rep from the company confirmed a source close to Lindsay has commented and her publicist has no comment. gimme a break, its real. People, the most publicist-kissing mag out there and one to be very careful of what they print, is reporting on this story and talked to the guy who wrote it who confirmed its authenticity. Guaranteed one of her camp sold her out and published it because they are so pissed off about her behavior. Just yesterday, that Disney Land worker cussed her out.

Billy, I don't think the CEO & Chairman of Morgan Creek is 70 years old. I just googled to find out his name and then looked him up on IMDb.com. His name is James G. Robinson. Click on his name to his profile, where you'll find two photos of him (one of which is with Al Pacino and some other guy). I dunno. I can buy that that guy wrote this letter.

So much controversy! I just googled this, too. Here is what I found:
"This document follows American practice," said the instructor, "which begins with double quotation marks, placing terminal periods inside the quotation marks."

As an American, I was taught to place periods inside the quotation marks (as above).

The funniest thing about this whole situation is that Morgan Creek released the letter to People and other outlets in an attempt to force her to deal with her behavior. Here's a production company having to be a parent to her while her mother parties along side her.

Um. "The grammar police NEEDS to stop posting" is correct also. "Police" is a collective noun that can have both a singular and plural form. Both are now accepted as correct.
I always treat it as a singular collective noun: "the police need to..." and my journalism teachers have always agreed.
