I agree kids don't choose their parents and vice versa.... But telling someone they are selfish for writing off their parents I don't agree with. Unless you walk in those shoes you can't judge. I have a mother who left me when I was 1 year old... left me in a crib with my brother - with a note and my dad found me when he got home from work... she left and didn't look back until I was about 17.... My father stepped in as mother AND Father. I tried getting to know her and forgive her when I met her again as a teen... but she had NO Idea how to act w/ a kid or how to parent. She has/had ZERO parental instinct. I went away to college and in the time I was there (Same state as her) I saw my dad who lived OUT OF STATE more than I saw my mom who lived 2 hours away... some parents unfortunately don't know how to be a parent. I recently visited classmates.com and found my mom had a page... She had all this wrong info on my brother and I - the truth is - she's a woman TRYING to pretend she's a great mother to everyone on the outside even though she left us as babies and briefly came back in our lives as teens. I don't hate her for it... I just accept my mother is not a mother - She's soley the woman who granted me life. I graduated colleged and moved and have not heard hide nor hair from her since. I've tried to reach out but with no luck... so I'm sorry there is a point in one's life... where enough is enough.... my life is FAR Happier without her. If that makes me selfish than selfish I am.

I tried persuing (sp) a relationship but after being rejected time and time again I decided I couldn't do it anymore. It was just a personal choice - and maybe Angie made that same decision. I won't subject my future family to that... I dealt with it - they don't deserve it. I wish her no ill will (as I'm sure Angelina doesn't her father)... seperating myself was one of the hardest but best decisions I made. Thank god for my dad - he rocks!

Usually, I am not nice on these gossip blogs, but I have to say that any man who will step up and raise his kids after their degenerate mom abandons them is worthy of respect.
I've known bitches like that, who are piss-poor mothers. They're mothers only in the sense that they gave birth. And don't they always try to come off as good moms? It's so pathetic. I'm all for respecting one's parents, but there are cases when they deserve no respect.
If AJ hates her dad and won't speak to him because he said she has mental problems, maybe the truth hurt for her. My grandmother has seen me basically everyday for the 21 years i've been on earth, do u know how many times she's called me by my sister's name or whatever ur name is. Shit i forget my sisters' names sometimes, my roommates. It happens, it dont mean that i love them any less, i just forgot in the moment.
I think he really does want a relationship with his daughter or at least her children. He's been trying to have one with her since she got Maddox. The sad thing is that he children are going to grow up and find out that had a grandfather out that wanted to have contact with them but their mother wouldnt allow it. Children dont alway react well to stuff like that.
Sure her father said some (mostly) true things about her. He probably should have done it in a more private venue like a one on one conversation. But when was the last time that your parents said something they shouldnt have said in front of people. It happens. And i doubt that that would have had that much effect on her adopting Maddox anyway. I'm pretty sure adoption agencies dont take tabloids, gossip shows, or things on tv in consideration for celebrities. I mean the bitch was walking around with her husband's blood around her neck. She collects knifes, had some serious PDA issues. So i doubt daddy stating the obvious would have messed up the situation. If she does think that he father is such a great person, then give ur children a chance a to know him. At least let him meet them, even if u dont want him to have an indept relationship or something. She dont even gotta talk to him. I had seeing grandparents not being able to see their grandkids.

The truth is when she adopted Maddox neither Billy Bob or Jon Voight would accept an adopted child. Billy Bob hit the road, and Jon called her crazy. Then Billy has his own little girl not a year and a half later. He just didn't want that child. Neither did Jon. She eventually forgave Billy Bob, but he didn't go to the press and call her crazy. Half the strange things she did when she was younger probably was a result of having no father in her life and being rejected. That has an affect on a girl. Now that she's a mother I don't blame her for protecting her kids from a bigot.

Also, I remember when they were trying to adopt this baby, but it was supposed to be hush-hush because it wasn't finalized yet, and the stupid old geezer went and told the press about it!
Also, what if some really brutal shit went down in her childhood with him. I'm sure she has good reason not to include him in her children's lives.
Oh please give me a break. What did he expect the minute he walked out of the door leaving his young wife with two small children on her own for his lust and career? and what did he expect when he abandoned his kids? He alrady confessed he regrets not spending time with Angelina and James and for not being there for most of their childhood and adult life. Well i hope he realize being a sperm donor doesn't automatically makes him a father.
You know, like 5 years ago when the whole thing surfaced about Voight and Jolie, I believed Jolie.
But now, I don't believe her for anything. I seriously believe her Dad is telling the truth when he says that she is really messed up and has some serious mental issues.

don't think the lives of the Jolie-Pitt family will lose anything much without Jon Voight. I remember that well-known psychologist with the TV program-he's dead now-telling one of his callers "If your parent is the source of your pain, why don't you get yourself away from it?".
Many people live with "should" and "must" ruling their lives, and consider child-parent estrangement something to be avoided at all costs.
The cold hard truth is though that many parents and many children are just people too-and very hurtful. In these cases the healthy thing to do is get away from the source of hurt.
Many people prefer to live with a problem and complain about it . Other people prefer to eliminate the problem-it seems to me that's the sane thing to do.
Well if his daughter would forgive his ass already maybe he'd remember his grandkids names!
She DID say she forgave him and doesn't hate him but she believes any relationship with him is very unhealthy i am sure she has her own strong reasons for that, not that we don't know some of them already and hence has the right to protect HER children from an abusive "father".
She said once in an interview that even after she adopted Maddox and Jon said all those things about her in the press she tried to resovle things with him. She would go see him and he would be so toxic and negative about her life, that she would be in this awful funk, and she would go home and not be able to be a good parent to Maddox because of it. That's when she decided she had to break the cycle of emotional abuse for the sake of her child. So that's what she did, and that takes courage.
