They did not leave Africa a lot of them. They were able to have businesses in Africa and send their kids to an international private school. How many Americans you know can do this? I also know Africans who come to the US, work three jobs and their kids are going to Ivy League schools and they are homeowners before Americans who were born here? Africa may not get any better but American is not getting any better either. I agree with Dear Adolf, why do we think we are so well off? Half of Americans have no healthcare. Our education system sucks. Everybody has mortgages that they can't pay. Bills up their ass. Remember people, these are celebrities and what they do is primarily based on how they will look and be perceived doing it, not by true kindness. A lot of times I think celebrities get a kind of feeling of empowerment when it is their idea and they get the credit for starting a charity or doing a good deed. Many people with huge egos do this (for instance, Lance Armstrong and his whole Live STRONG thing.) I have a feeling that if this story is true, Angelina doesn't want to have anything to do with it because it's OPRAH'S IDEA, not something she will get full credit for.

And then like any intelligent person would do - I take your logic and apply it to other cultures in contemporary times and what do you do? You claim that you SOLELY want to focus on Africa. High divorce rates
Inability to properly and expeditiously assist American hurricane victims.
