Thank you, Christopher.
As one of "the single" who has admittedly stopped looking, I agree that there is not only little support for male/male real-ationships, but little variety in the ways in which we socialize for the purposes of interacting platonically or romanticly.
But then I've beat that horse into the ground already.

I typed up a huge response and deleted it all because it basically said EVERYTHING that you said. That was right on time. RIGHT on time.

Excellent post. Definitely adds to the reasons why the marriage legislation question needs to be pondered more, even though it's controversial. When there's no legal and/or personal investment, there's no reason for people to stay or consider a long-term relationship... and without long-term relationship role models, people have nothing or no one to look at and say, "I aspire to have that..."
My 2 cents on this excellent post!

I think the re/evultion will began as soon as we as a society are able to look beyond our lookist/masculinist tendencies I guess, but then men by nature are physicality focused creatures, and the sexual plane comes into being from that, and then of course the youth culture is a larger issue, I feel if you worship anything or aspect of nature and put over everything else as a paragon or an ideal their are gonna be problems. I think this has been talked about for years and this problem is something that is larger then all of us, I think when we are tired of being sick and tired we will either move on or evolve, either way change gon come, Welcome back Chris!!!!!!

As always, you’ve created a brainteaser. As a single man, who does not look for love, because I am comfortable with the direction of my life, I do think that we all have compatible mates out there that will come in time. It’s what I simply call ‘divine order.’ Having said that (smile) I think that each relationship I’ve been in and that being only two, I learn more about myself as a man, a lover, a companion and a friend, which some of us never get. I am looking forwarding to my next relationship, because I believe the third is always the charm (smile). Being a Taurian male, I admit that dating me is a challenge, not difficult, but a challenge, but I think we need to admit there are things we must know about ourselves before we can be a good partner, lover, even friend to someone else. Once we are able to admit our false then someone else can better love as for those fault, hence pretentiousness. How does the famous quote goes, ‘An ounce of pretension is worth a pound of maneuver,’ Steel Magnolias. To take this to a deeper level, I believe in the power of discernment, which has helped this phine brotha, pick out who wants me for a night and who wants me for an entirety and that my brothas is a powerful thang. Welcome back Chris, we missed you bro.

As a man who is currently single and kinda looking, this post is really making me think. So Kudos on coming back and making us readers of your blog look within ourselves.

Thanks! This year I finally learned the last paragraph. We truly are our worst enemy. The question I ponder now is how do we re-boot the community?
