Gravatar Bartok is well-represented in my classical CD collection too. If you would like to sample some fine music not often heard on classical music programs, try a few of the more than 100 audio samples on the Audio page of my website www.AfriClassical.com The music is written, performed or conducted by one of the 52 composers and musicians of African descent who are profiled at my site. I would enjoy hearing what you think of the samples. For example, try any of the samples of the music of Girma Yifrashewa, a young classical pianist and composer from Ethiopia who has made a career touring throughout Africa and the world with his distinctive and haunting sounds.

Gravatar I love that piece too!

Gravatar Thanks for commenting, Courtney and William!

I was thinking today about why I love it so and realize part of it is just how fun it is to play, too. It's so... lively! I can't imagine not getting a huge audience response.

A couple of others like that for me are Beethoven 7, Shosty 5 and Mozart 35. I like almost any Haydn symphony, too. It's not really just the "rock & roll" feel, but an un-nameable imagination in the composition.

It made my whole day!

Gravatar I checked out your site and it sounds like there is a lot of French influence in the music there. Interesting!

I was of course pleased to see a violist front and center in the masthead, too.

Thanks for the link.

Gravatar Whilst doing the crossword, my usual responses were... Hey! Now I know where Williams ripped off for the Star Wars/Indiana Jones Soundtracks! ...and that sounds like where Elfman ripped off for the Beatlejuice Soundtrack!

What can I say... I watch waaay too many movies.
