I agree with the Bishop. Parenting is a wonderful thing, and if the pressures of modern life are stifling the birthrate, governments (including our own) need to support parents who take time out to raise their children, rather than making it easier to 'outsource' parenting to others. Imagine a child's first steps not being seen by it's parents, but instead told about the fact in the daily report that night! Might as well grow children in labs if they aren't going to have the intimate relationship that 'real' parenting provides.

I don't believe more childcare centres will increase the birthrate as mentioned in the article. Promotion of childcare centres only aids and encourages the family to have their obligatory 2 children in the middle of the woman's business career. A business career for woman is fine if that is what they want, but many woman are brainwashed by society to feel they are unworthy by prioritising and enjoying looking after their family and raising the next generation to the best of their ability. Many mothers feel they do their best work in daylight hours - hence it is this time of the day to spend with their children, creating, reading, teaching their important values, cultures and morals in a loving family atmosphere. Raising children involves teaching by example, watching life at home and helping. I, as many others, simply do not want to have my children raised by someone else. I would be devisated that I missed the special moments in my child's life. I have missed some of those moments when they come home from school full of the news of the day and needing encouragment and comfort now. The issues are just not important 3 hours time in peak period at home.
Government and large companies through maternity leave assist in pressuring the parents that money is more important to purchase the fashionable commidies than time spent bring up the next generation to guide the world. Money does not make people happier. Loneliness and less quality family life is confirmed as having negative effects.
Why is it that individuals are not critised for choosing to work as doctors, engineers, chefs, mechanics, teacher, accountants, manager own business - but to choose the vocation of teaching and raising a family full time is being unproductive. We do training courses for every other occupations, we should also be undertaking courses for parenting - there are many around.
Stay at home parents are the ones who are asked by the school teachers to come an assist in the class, especially those children who have 2 full time working parents with less time to assist with reading and homework. They are also busy using their skills and talents on many volunteer committees and activities that keep the community running.
I don't think that stay at home parents are any more stressed (or bored) then the family where 2 parents are working.

Mothers certainly have been given the raw end of the stick. Families are the fabric of society and without solid families society will only flounder.
