Your cake looks awesome! I'm impressed with your first fondant experience. I noticed you have the smoothy tool. Does it make a big difference smoothing out the fondant? Is it a must have tool?

thanks! yes it was a must have tool for me! i think i spent most of my weekend watching videos about properly applying fondant to cakes and even the pros of pros used a smoother. the wilton one is fine i just wish that they made it a bit larger.

Look at you making your own fondant. I'm impressed! I prefer fondant for its decorative aspects, and there are some better tasting ones out there. I just had a marzipan covered wedding cake in which I liked a lot.

I've yet to try my hand at fondant - scares me, too and like you, everything was always buttercream, but you've really got me tempted to try my hand at this. Looks like you did an outstanding job!

This looks great! I have always wanted to try fondant, but was leery of the taste. I heard that the stuff you buy in the store is terrible.

I am impressed! I think it looks great and I am definitely going to try this at home! I have seen a beautiful wedding cake for my own wedding this fall, but have a hard time finding someone in our remote area who can make this, so I think I will do it myself.
