Your cake looks awesome! I'm impressed with your first fondant experience. I noticed you have the smoothy tool. Does it make a big difference smoothing out the fondant? Is it a must have tool?
Great job and happy anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! (Our 1st is approaching this month, as well)
Your cake is beautiful!... and w/4 cups of confectioner's sugar... I'm sure it does NOT taste like Play-doh!
Great Job! Can't wait to try this some day...

Look at you making your own fondant. I'm impressed! I prefer fondant for its decorative aspects, and there are some better tasting ones out there. I just had a marzipan covered wedding cake in which I liked a lot.

I've been rather curious about marzipan myself. You are totally right about fondant. It allows you to make absolutely stunning works of art. I hope to one day possess that ability.

I've yet to try my hand at fondant - scares me, too and like you, everything was always buttercream, but you've really got me tempted to try my hand at this. Looks like you did an outstanding job!

This looks great! I have always wanted to try fondant, but was leery of the taste. I heard that the stuff you buy in the store is terrible.
Happy Anniversary! We are going on 10 years and I can honestly say love grows. I hope you 2 had a great celebration.

I am impressed! I think it looks great and I am definitely going to try this at home! I have seen a beautiful wedding cake for my own wedding this fall, but have a hard time finding someone in our remote area who can make this, so I think I will do it myself. This is an excellent diy report, thanks!

Thanks for the info. Very well written and easy to follow. I have posted a few of my articles on Wacanai. It's nice because I just link it to my page and when someone searches for anything similar to my article then they recommend mine. They also have some graphs that you can put on your page to help track who's reading your stuff and how helpful they are finding it.

I'm just wondering about storing the fondant, i've heard different things, and I'm just not sure what to do. I've heard not to put it in the fridge because of the moisture and also not to put in in the fridge just in a cool dry area. I just made fondant today actually and I'm not sure where to place it because i am only using it this Sunday.
