Gravatar So you won't be buying my new perfume?

It's called FAB!

Gravatar some celebs should "not be allowed" to market their own line ofperfume or lcothing but for some clebs like musicians this can help generate income since it's the labels / record companies who hold the gross in earnings. this is why my boss is starting his own business. he works with record labels who want music videos produced. a lot of what we see on tv is just an illusion, most hiphop artists for example don't have any money at all, everything on the set of a music video is - of course - just rented to create a certain image. but russell simmons and wife kemora, puffy and other entrepreneurs have gone from hiphop to ghetto-fab. setting standards in music AND fashion, like it or not, lol

Gravatar I've very picky with my perfume. If I find something I actually do like and it happens to be put out by a celebrity oh well. Excecpt Miss. Hilton, I could never buy anything of hers.

Gravatar I don't think that's really "selling out". I could care less about stars myself.. a bunch of people seeking fame and glory for themselves when, in most cases, they're more amoral than the average Joe. Regardless-- they're celebs and celebs market their faces and names. It's part of the celeb gig. "Selling out" is when you compromise your own integrity and/or beliefs to promote the beliefs of another so that you can profit or "stay on top". THAT is a sell-out.

Gravatar I think before you classify a person as a "sell out" you should understand their motivation! The Jeter scent, the proceeds go to the Turn 2 foundation. Since you're clearly unaware of the foundation or its meaning, and that it even exists, I'll inform you.
The turn 2 foundation was started by Derek, his sister Sharlee, and Parents. It's a company "driven" to help improve the lives of all children, poor, wealthy, uneducated or even special needs! They started the 1st core group in Kalamazoo Michigan, Where Derek is from, then offices in the 5 burroughs of NY, then Tampa/Clearwater/St.Pete's where Derek Lives in the off season. The goal is to establish community groups in all major cities in the hopes they span out to the suburbs.
Their passion for improving the lives of children who need guidance, mentoring or who may be neglected, I think is ALOT more inspiring then some attention deprived celebrity wench, who puts out some skanky scent, for no gain other than her purse. For you to even classify Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan with the other's is purely assanine. These 2 men have given away more money than we could earn in a life time!
Spears, will soon have been a "fad" Paris Hilton will fail to make the news in a few years with age, J.Lo too will disappear when the wrinkles come to visit. Sara JP is clinging to her Sex and the City fame! Priscilla Presley.....hmmmm Who was she married to again? Nuff said! Hillary Duff is one traffic stop away from being shown the coke monster she's becoming. Sean John is a urban focused company, and even poor people shop, but like everyone else they change directions. Remember companies like Cross colours? or even Fubu? Sean Combs is a marketing master, he'll find another way to line his pockets with poor people's money! OCC another soon to be "FAD", Carlos Santana has been around longer than any of these others and will live on in the Music he left behind not some cologne! Julio Iglesias as well. We'll I've ranted long enough, My only suggestion is understand what/who you're writing about before, you do so. Some people in this world have made the pledge to leave it a better place then how they found it, People Like Derek Jeter! So thank Him someday, for caring about the generations of tomorrow. If that's considered selling out, sign me up!

Gravatar Ever heard of Jumpman 23? It's Jordan's own division of Nike, Jordan has gone the route of signing other star athletes, Jeter, Cleveland's Lebron, Carmello Anthony,
Albet Pujols, etc to his own line. They produce all forms of uniforms, protective gear, and tools of the trade basketballs, baseballs, etc.Along with casual wear for everyone!
The jumpman 23 foundation sponsors clinics for fundamentals and skills training to kids of all ages.Virtually anything that has a Nike logo on it is approved by Jordan he is a head chair member.
A portion of the proceeds from sales of the clothing & shoes go to honorable chairites such as toys for tots, battered women's and children's homes, shoes for kids, coats for kids GLOBALLY. They sponsor the united way, red cross, and a slue of others. Thought you might like to know.

Gravatar JFP-- I am not going to get into a pissing match with you. Enough is enough.

Gravatar Are you wearing perfume! There's no perfume in baseball!!!!!!!!

Gravatar Does it smell like Mr. Jeter before of after the game?

Gravatar This fits right in with Derek Jeter's marketing...he's been doing nationally televised Ford commercials, he's driven to win and he's driven to make a difference with his foundation.

My only question for all of these guys is...when is enough enough?
