Gravatar I agree with the criticism of the networks sending anchors to cover Obama's overseas trip. I believe this was out of line, although the reality is that these were huge media events-staged or not.

Regarding the NY Times, I do not like the way the McCain campaign reacted and I support the editor. The editor did not solicit the article from McCain-it wasn't a planned "point counterpoint" type of set up and it was up to McCain's campaign to come up with an article that was savvy enough, or approached the issue from a different enough angle, to get published.

We have freedom of the press in America, but he who owns the press controls it. This is consistent with conservative and free market principles and with liberty.

The other thing is if McCain wants to win against Obama he has to be proactive and market himself better. He needs to substantively distance himself from Bush, and mean it, because the majority of voters in this country are no longer willing to tolerate the Bush Administration's abuse of power and patience has worn thin with the war in Iraq, which McCain keeps repeatedly harping on and trying to justify. I want to support McCain, but he needs to give me more reasons to do so.
