Gravatar There are no words, but do know that my thoughts are with you. Stay strong, be optimistic, laugh every day. Whatever it is, you'll beat it.

Gravatar Phil, I appreciate the effort to say something. Thanks!

Gravatar Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hang in there and try to stay optimistic and focus on healing. Best of luck, my thoughts will be with you.

Gravatar Crazy, I hope everything is ok. We'll be thinking of you down here in the south part of the state.

Stay strong!

Gravatar Sara I am so sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you.

Gravatar I'm so sorry to hear this - it's so hard to live in the question when you don't know what you're up against yet, so just know you have a lot of people pulling for you!

Gravatar My thoughts are with you, and I hope you have better news soon.

Gravatar Will keep a good thought for you here.

Gravatar I wish you luck with this.

Gravatar Oh my god, Sara, I'm sorry. You'll be in my thoughts.

Gravatar Here via fatfu, but otherwise a total stranger. I wanted to say that a good friend of mine is going through this right now. It's terrifying, and it upsets your life thoroughly, but doctors have an incredible number of tools available to help. My friend had surgery on hers and was groggy from drugs but otherwise back to herself within hours. It's tiring but surmountable.

The best advice she got was to have family or friends join her at meetings with doctors, because some of the drugs made her memory fuzzy. Also, it's good to have other people in on the fight. Also, don't read horror stories on the web--there are so many different kinds to read about when you don't know what kind it is yet.

For what it's worth, I'm thinking of you.

Gravatar You got my vibes headed your way, woman. Be well.

Gravatar Sara you are in my thoughts. I hope you get good news very soon.

And please keep us updated and let us know how you're doing.

Gravatar Oh, my thoughts, prayers and vibes are with you so that you hear the best news in the world, *really quickly.* Godspeed.

Gravatar Jesus fucking Christ, hon. I'll be thinking of you. You might want to talk to Irish, too, if the two of you are friendly at all. I think he's had some experience of this.

Gravatar *thinking of you*

Gravatar Love to you, Sara. I'm sure all your readers will be sending good thoughts your way. Hugs, S

Gravatar Good vibes from over here, too...

Gravatar Let the internets know if you need help with anything. Please. And take care, lady.

Gravatar Another total stranger, here via fatfu.

But you're now in my prayers- for strength, for courage, for healing, for wisdom and compassion for your doctors...

Gravatar More thoughts coming to you. Stay strong. xx

Gravatar Well crap on a stick made of crap.

*HUG*

Absolutely good thoughts coming your way.

Gravatar Another total stranger, but you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong!

Gravatar Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. Please keep us posted.

Gravatar (((hugs)))

I'm sending all the strength and all the fight and all the positive energy I can, your way.

Gravatar Please let me know if there is anything I can. Be well.

Gravatar My whole family of wild-assed boys is thinking and talking about you this morning. Please know you're in my thoughts and prayers, too.

Be well, and let us know if there is anything you need or would like while you're recovering. Which you will. Quickly. I just know this.

XXX
Deborah

Gravatar I'm so sorry to hear this. Please keep us updated on what's going on and know that I'm one of many who will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Gravatar Sara, I am thinking about you and I will pray for you. I know of another young woman who had a similar thing happen a few years ago, and she is doing fine today. Hugs and healing vibes to you!!! Please keep us all posted.

Gravatar Thinking of you and sending prayers for a complete recovery.

Gravatar I'm thinking of you.

Gravatar Oh my goodness. I wish I had something more useful to say than "I'm sorry to hear it." I will definitely be thinking of you, and let us #predicators know if there's anything we can do.

Gravatar Oh, fuck, I'm sorry, Sara. Thinking of you and knowing that you are fierce and strong and will be through this and out the other side soon.

Gravatar How terrifying. I'm so sorry. Please keep us posted when you can.

Gravatar Sara!! I'm terribly sorry!

Listen, I'm sure you have a thousand things on your mind right now, but I will only tell you that I have had TWO friends who had this happen to them, and the tumors were benign. They are both now perfectly fine. So please, please take heart. I have no idea what else you have found out or what your diagnosis is, I only know that sometimes these things turn out not, thank god, to be dire. I hope that's the case for you.

Please do let us know what happens.

Gravatar Another total stranger wishing the best for you.

Gravatar Sara -- Thoughts, prayers and good-vibes headed your way from here, too.

Gravatar I'm thinking of you too.

Gravatar Sara- My BFF is a very well respected neurologist specializing in tumors. Please send word if you'd like an introduction for a consultation or if you would like more info about him. Peace, breath, strength!

Gravatar Aunti, contact info would be much appreciated.

Gravatar I wish you the very best, be strong (though you already are)!

Gravatar Sending good thoughts you way, Sara.

(((huge hug)))

Please let me know if there's anything at all I can do.

Gravatar apache prayers will be said for you in the desert.

Gravatar Sara, I hope this turns out to be nothing more than a briefly unpleasant bump in the road, and that your recovery is quick and uneventful.

Gravatar Lots of healing energy and good thoughts winging their way to you.

Gravatar Oh Sara, how frightening! I hope whatever it is turns out to be benign, and/or something that can be treated with a minimum of fuss.

I have a small tumor on my pituitary gland. When it was initially discovered, but before we were sure of what it was, I remember feeling super freaked out. I hope you turn out to be as fortunate as I have, in that the tumor I have is benign and requires only medication to mitigate the effects it causes.

Good luck to you.

Gravatar Sara, i wish you a swift resolution and speedy recovery. My sister had a brain tumor, the worst kind, and she beat it. You're young and strong, and you will beat it as well.

Gravatar Thoughts and good wishes from over here too.

Gravatar sara, good vibes going out to you. i hope to hear that it's nothing major, or that you are such a rightous chica that you'll lick it. either way, *hugs*.

Gravatar Sara - positive thoughts sent your way from someone else who's recently been under the knife. I agree with the commenter above who said.."The best advice..was to have family or friends join her at meetings with doctors, because some of the drugs made her memory fuzzy"

Especially the first day or so if you get to go under general anesthesia - you will be "gorked" and it helps to have someone along who can help keep an eye on things -- I would extend that advice to have someone with you if you have to stay in-house at the hospital.

When I was in over Valentine's, I had a medical error (blood drawn from another patient and sent to the lab with my name on it). The floor RN tried to convince me that I had been asleep when I was drawn, and then tried finger pointing. Unfortunately for her I am a quality manager at a large medical reference lab, so her arguments went nowhere - but I got a first hand look at how they will try to distract even an 'insider' !

Hope things are benign, take things slowly, breathe deep and let others help you out while you recover!

Gravatar Sara,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
Hope your time in bed is less than a week.

I have spent much too much time in hospitals the past 4 years.

Keep a good attitude and a sense of humour, endeavor to be a good patient.

You will find that your image of what modern medicine is and the reality are very separate things.

Many are not 'care-givers'. Some are. Most consider you an inconvenience. Sad but true.

And the expense...God.

I trust you have insurance, but even that won't help possibly.

Be prepared for medical bills that look like a mortgage balance, and arguing with your insuror.

Until then listen to positive soothing music, don't watch the news (really...), watch soothing nature videos, listen to tapes like from Louise Hay and have as many friends visit as you can.

God Bless.

Gravatar best wishes, sara.

Gravatar I am so sorry!
Be sure my prayers are with you

Gravatar Holding you in the Light. Hang in there.

Gravatar good positive and healthy thoughts to you!

t

Gravatar My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

Gravatar My thoughts are with you all the way from Spain. Get well soon.

GOM

Gravatar Sara, this is your father. Your mother and I will be with you every step of the way. We want to see your smile and hear your laugh every day.

I want to thank your readers for their thoughtful and encouraging comments.

I love you.

Gravatar Wishing you all the best.

Gravatar Sending all my prayers and thoughts to you, Sara. If there's anything we can do, say the word.

Gravatar Sara- if you'd like info on that neurologist mentioned above, please send me an e-mail!

Gravatar Prayers, best wishes, and positive thoughts, Sara.

Gravatar I was over at LGM and Scott linked to your blog. My wife and I want to extend our best wishes to you and your family. Get well and stay strong.

Sincerely
Jay Foster

Gravatar You are certainly in my thoughts tonight. Best wishes. Hang in there.

Gravatar Here via LGM. Had cancer once, don't any more. Any tumor--benign or not--is terrifying for a while, and that will pass gradually as you know more, no matter what happens. The scariest thing is not to have any specific idea what is inside you or what you can do to fight it, but once you know that, you can just take it a day at a time. Hope and plan for the best, because the worst isn't worth your thought.

Also, never be afraid to ask for help or support. It seems clear that it's there when you want it.

Gravatar Also here via LGM.

Healing thoughts heading your way. One day at a time.

Gravatar Peace Sun and Blessings - out to you each day!

Gravatar Dang it! Bad news on a Friday can ruin a weekend.

Go get 'em. I've had a few friends who've had similar issues and I'm still enjoying their company. Plow through. We need that educated brain and keen insight on the Idaho blogs. Wishing you all the best with this trial. If you need help just holler. Keep us "posted".

Gravatar I'm also very bad with words at times like these. Although, I don't know you very well, you're in my thoughts and I hope you'll pull through. I always enjoy reading your thoughts and insights - you're one of the most sensible, down-to-earth American bloggers out there.

Gravatar It's painful to hear such news--my prayers and thoughts are with you as you struggle with the unknown. But as others have said, modern medicine has a plethora of techniques to help you get well, so be of good cheer, rely on friends and family, and laugh every day.

God bless,
Nat

Gravatar Ouch! Best of luck, and get well soon!

Gravatar Just another voice adding to the collected voices of people who might not know you, but wish you well. Speedy recovery. xx

Gravatar My thoughts are with you. We're pulling for you here.

Gravatar And yet another Cara wishing you well.

Gravatar Sending all my love...stay strong, Sara, you can and WILL beat this!

Gravatar Sara, I will be thinking of you as you go through this and wishing you all the very best for a speedy recovery. Cling to family and friends and hang in there honey!

Bri

Gravatar That sucks. Wishing you well, Z.

Gravatar Good luck and best wishes. I hope it's nothing and everything turns out for the best.

Gravatar Crap. Seeing way too much of this of late. Hoping and praying to hear 'Benign' this time and 'operable' wouldn't be too much to ask. Passing strength and all the luck I can spare your way.

Gravatar Best wishes to you, Sara. Sending good vibes your way.

Gravatar We haven't heard "benign" yet, but we have heard "operable." The tumor (if it's a tumor) is in the right frontal lobe of Sara's brain, fairly close to (but not up against) the midline of her brain, and fairly close to (but not up against) the part of her brain that involves motor control. This means that so long as there isn't a serious fuck-up during the surgery, the surgery is unlikely to cause brain damage.

As for what's already occurred, the cognitive symptoms are responding to corticosteroids--meaning that the greater portion of the concentration problems and memory loss are being caused by the swelling rather than damage done by the tumor itself.

That's the extent of the good news we have so far.

-- ACS

Gravatar You will be in my thoughts and prayers. ((hug))

Gravatar My strongest thoughts and prayers are going your way. You CAN BEAT THIS!

Gravatar Best of Luck Sara!

I hope that you will find support communities in as many areas as possible so that you can be yourself as much as possible and get the help from others as much as possible.

Friends and family nearby will hopefully be of great emotional and practical support. I also hope that your partner has a good support system to help.

Best of Luck!

Gravatar It's important to remember that it is just what you said - a thingy - right now. And you - a tough feminist - can stomp any old thingy.

Best.

Gravatar I am keeping you in my thoughts. Hopefully, it is only "tumor-looking" and is really benign.

Gravatar Longtime lurker, with lots of novena cards stretching back over a lifetime. I have taken them out in your honor, and prayers are on the way.

(((hugs and goodvibes)))

Gravatar Hey Sara, it's as if we're all holding hands in virtual space, forming a chain of love, good thoughts and positive karma around you. We need your vitality and spirit to stick around for a long time and it's obvious that we'll all do what we can to help you to overcome this obstacle.

Gravatar Only just now heard about your misfortune. I sincerely hope all goes well and you will have a speedy recovery. All best wishes.

Gravatar I just got the news, too. If you were from a redder county, I'd ask if your doctor maybe just hadn't seen film for a a fully-developed and functional brain in years. Maybe doc just misdiagnosed all that grey stuff as a tumor.

Keep us posted, let us know what we can do to help or distract or fill in on your blog, where and what to send or sneak into your recovery ward, etc. I'd promise a handmade card from me and Serephin, but *THEY* have confiscated our crayons and scissors.

Also, given this weekend's FC banquet's bloggerly theme, we'll be sure to guilt someone important into saying nice things about you to the whole crowd. And videotaping said tribute for posterity, or at least a good remix/mashup.

Jokes aside, I'm stunned and worried, praying and hoping that you'll be all right. And give my best to Andy, who's also gotta be going thru hell.

Gravatar Sending warm wishes. You'll be in my thoughts!

Gravatar Hang in there Sara. We'll be looking forward to getting you back here blogging, where you belong. - B

Gravatar I have enjoyed reading your blog for a little over a year now, and I am very sad to hear of your diagnosis. Get well soon.

Gravatar Our hearts ache over the sad news; but are full of hope for a successful surgery next week.

Much love to both you and Andy from us all.

Gravatar Good luck. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Gravatar Geez. Just heard about this by way of squorch. Holy cow. You are in my thoughts and I'm wishing you the best.

Gravatar Another stranger here... just an occasional reader of your blog. I am so sorry to hear about this development and I hope the recent more positive indications continue to hold. I am also so glad to hear that you came out of surgery OK. I'll be praying for a speedy and complete recovery.
