Work has taught me that when I leave a message, I always say my name twice, as clearly as possible. It's really irritating to get that call back "hey, I just got a call from here, I don't know what it's about, and I don't know who called me."

That's cool! One thing I always try to do when leaving a message is say my phone number right near the beginning of the message, so if they have to re-play it after they've found a piece of paper and pencil, they don't have to go through the whole message again.

Oooh, I like the early phone number idea. I do always say my name twice, though, at the beginning with the "Hi, this is occhiblu, calling for XYZ" and then at the end, "Again, my name is occhiblu." I find that helps.
And I really, really, really hate the telephone -- or, at least, I hate calling people -- so I love when I get voicemail and I can just leave all of my questions or answers there and hopefully never have to speak to the person directly. It's heaven.
