Senoras and horsemen: The Medley...

Okay, you're on. I'll let you move first. Just post it in the comments here, and I'll get the graphics done. Since you've got a hang on inserting YouTube, it should be no problem inserting the script for chess.
Or, you could give me posting rights to the Medley, and I could do all the work.

Oh, Mimus (if I may, one last time). I'm sorry to see you lay down the sword, the written one anyway.
I just want to say one last time, when I read your stuff, it often strikes me, "damn, that's what I was thinking but couldn't articulate." And you did it again today right here:
"I feel very, very sorry for Hillary Clinton. She made the one mistake no one should ever make in any endeavor: she turned into the monster she was battling..."
Fucking-A, dude. My stomach turned recently when one of our blogger friends expressed that exact opinion, "you just do whatever you have to do to get elected, and you can't worry about how dirty your hands get."
Wrong! I don't believe that. Never will. Isn't that what separates "us" from "them"? Do we want to become "them"? Eewwwwwww.
Won't you please reconsdier?

It's a sad day for "Blogtopia" as Skippy says - losing a soldier like you, Bro... and on the anniversary of the day you started.
I feel like I'm writing in a fellow classmate's yearbook - but I'll be going over to your new place. As always, best of everything to you, my friend.
Peace,
=RD=

Rook: Thank you. My opening move is, king's pawn two spaces forward. (I often get the "a-h" and "1-8" stuff mixed up.) Let me get back to you on the code.
Bartkid: Good one! I've been looking for an excuse to put up more King Crimson.
Red: That's right. It sounds a little like listening to people who say we have to stay in Iraq until we win, now that I think of it. I'd like to ask Hillary one question: "Do you know what a Pyrrhic victory is?" Because that's the best deal she'll ever get now.
As for the Medley, I just might take Rook's suggestion and give him a key. So if you like chess, there'll be something to see here after all -- you can watch him kick my ass. (I believe he's undefeated, at least in blogtopia.)
Scorpio: That's the idea. Expect an e-mail in a few days with some more information about "Ward of the Earth."
Rainbow Demon: It's more akin to losing a battle, really, than the larger war. I'm just retrenching and sitting tight for now. And you may expect an e-mail from me, too...

Until we iron out the details, I've already posted your first move at my blog. I'll be responding shortly. Once I post my move, you can post it in the comments, or you can email it to me at rook at rooksrant dot com

Happy Blogiversary, even if you're shutting down The Medley. Thanks, too for the opportunity to participate.
Not knowing jack shit about politics is irrelevant. You know your own heart and mind and that's what made your posts memorable. You always sounded to me like Diogenes or maybe Jimmy Stewart in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington": searching for some honesty in a system that has very little.

Thank you for your service.
Bwa-ha-ha! No, seriously, you done good, but do what pleases you. You get nothing but respect and appreciation from me, pal, even when you think I'm busting your balls.
Have fun with the music and don't be too hard on yourself. If I get over to Maryland to visit my sister-in-law, I'll let you know when I'm going and maybe we can meet up in DC again. This time we'll skip the protest marches and just hang out and have fun, maybe see a monument or two.

Rez: I guess my problem is, I'm hung up on the way things ought to be as opposed to how they are. With an attitude like that, I have no business running a political blog. I have a few political points to make at MJ, which is probably a bad move to consider, but as long as I remember that it's a music-oriented blog, I should be okay.
Rainbow Demon: The system will always be corrupt. Maybe it can be made less corrupt, and we can settle for that. I wouldn't mind politicians giving themselves raises, taking bribes, and performing rather graphic acts better left undescribed on big donors if they could at least keep the damn system functioning in a reasonably orderly manner.
DBK: Things have kind of ground to a halt with the MacBook-related stuff. Macs are sort of tricky to work with, and I need to acqire a few more items before I can get to putting my own music on the Net in earnest. I saw all this coming, so I'm not upset about it -- besides, you ought to have an idea by now of how long it takes me to get something done (i.e.: "Ward of the Earth, Prisoner of the Sun" -- seven years and counting).
I'll be going to DC again someday. I see no reason why I can't time a visit there with one of yours. You know where to reach me.
Enigma: You're right, it doesn't make much sense, not after the e-mail exchanges and comments exchanges we had. I've stopped trying to make sense of it, though. This is just something I was never really cut out for...

I've missed having your stuff come up on the Google reader. Saw your comment over at PoP's and found my way over here. Couldn't agree with what you said there more. Happy belated Blogoversary.
