Senoras and horsemen: The Medley...

Gravatar It wasn't what Wright said on Bill Moyers but the very over the top impressions and alliance with Louis Farrakhan that put him outside the acceptable mainstream. He insulted Barack Obama and played the clown in order to force this outcome, because it was necessary.

I hold no ill will for either of these men, but I support and agree with what Barack Obama has done here.

Gravatar Here was my take on Wright: http://www.pacificviews.org/webl...ves/ 003472.html

Yeah, I try to do a post for each of you once a week.

Gravatar Obama is, in the end, a politician. He's a good politician, and one who takes the high road far more often than your average politician today, but in the end he is still a politician. I think what pisses Obama off right now is that Wright has gone off freelancing. A politician's first goal is to protect his message, and Wright was threatening that by going off with a different message, a message that didn't match up with Obama's message but that was getting associated with Obama anyhow. So Obama did what any politician would do in that case -- plastered Wright with a Sistah Soljah moment.

I admire Obama's political skills -- he has run a very disciplined and on-message campaign, albeit Hillary managed to put a few dents in his message armor with various nonsense. But in the end, I don't hold any delusions about the man. He's smart, and he's disciplined, but he is, in the end, a politician, with all that implies. Hint: the synonym of "politician" is "professional liar". 'Nuff said. I'm voting for the man in November, but I don't have any delusions that I'm voting for a savior or anything. I'm voting for a politician -- just one who is a helluva lot brighter than the one currently in office, and a helluva lot saner than the Republican running for office. And in the end, that's good 'nuff for me.

Gravatar You know how some people say, "I hate to say I told you so..."? Well, I actually don't mind saying "I told you so". See, if Obama couldn't find a way to put Wright behind him, then he'd have to drag Wright with him into November, if Obama got the nomination. So he did what he had to do as a politician. He's a politician like any other and when there's an election on the line he'll do or say anything he thinks he must to win.

Sorry you feel misused and abused, but you shouldn't vote because you think someone is honest. You should pick the politician whom you believe will best serve the interests you want served. We're pretty limited in choices at this point, but anyone is better than McCain. I think we get a better health care deal with Clinton and I don't think we get any greater respect for civil liberties from any of them. Also, with a Democrat we don't get the sort of fascist horror show of Supreme Court appointments we get with a McCain. That's how I see the election.
