Peanut Gallery

Gravatar I missed the deadline, but thought I'd add my entry here since it is related to your theme.

Gravatar Holy cats, that's a lot of submissions! It looks great, nice job and I appreciate your tossing in the WFA link!

Gravatar Wonderful selection! Thanks for including me!

Though, Dorian, in the comic section, is actually a guy.

Gravatar Ooh, thanks for the kind words. One minor correction -- it's just Lis (pronounced like Liz), not Lisa.

Gravatar Thanks for including me! I can't wait to read all these fabulous entries -

Gravatar WOW! CONGRATULATIONS! This is an amazing carnival. Thanks for choosing such an important theme--I think there's lots of room for theory and practice for feminists in disability studies. Thanks for including me in this; I'm honored to be with this group of bloggers!

LX

Gravatar Thanks all!

Kalinara - Ragnell got to me via email so the pronoun now reflects the correct gender.

Blue - I wanted to link just about everything from your blog so I had to settle for one link and a "GO READ IT ALL!" kind of comment, .

Lis - I seem to be spelling people's name wrong a lot on this thing, lol. Consider it fixed.

LX - me, too. Which is why I choose to start off the Carnival with the issue of disability up front without an introduction. I want people to just read without my thoughts in their heads too much.

Gravatar BTW, the comic at the beginning of my post is an excerpt from a Diesel Sweeties strip.

Gravatar Howdy - I think my comment to Charlie's analysis may clarify some things regarding the Monogamy post - I'm certain I communicated some things which I was not intending. I am sorry for offending you and any of your readers.
Blessings,
Brandon

Charlie - Thanks for your comments on Monogamy. I think you made some great points. The article and my beliefs are a work in progress. I updated it recently and gave it a bit of a different ending.

I would like to address one point you made throughout your comment with regard to not allowing women the privelage of polygamy. I think I communicated my point poorly and I can totally see now from reading your post how it could be interpreted as a gross rationalization for gender oppression.

This was not my intention whatsoever. I was merely recounting my understanding of the male psyche, which as my recently updated article points to, is severely tainted by popular culture, media, etc. As you so aptly put, I revealed little about men and women, but rather more about how there are. A Gandhi quote I incorporated speaks to this eloquently.

I think we're probably on the page actually, I just think I did a poor job of communicating my point.

Blessings to you good man for keeping me honest.
Brandon

Gravatar Did you know the new Batwoman is going to be a lesbian? Me neither but hey, I'm all for it. The comics aren't my thang, just like NASCAR, because of their supreme lack of diversity, however, this might be a good starting point.

Superhero comics may have a supreme lack of diversity, but the medium itself has lots of feminist and lesbian literature.

Have you checked out Castle Waiting by Linda Medley? Do you read Dykes to Watch Out For and if so, did you know that Alison Bechdel has a new book out? Ever hear of Love And Rockets or the less-awesome Strangers In Paradise? There's even a comic called Girl Genius out there.

Don't mistake a lack of knowledge on your part for a definitive statement on a medium or culture.

Gravatar BeaucoupKevin - I wouldn't even know where to start when looking for diversity in the comics. Thanks for the few good tips!

Gravatar This looks great. Thank you.

Gravatar Great carnival! Lots of good reading, thanks!

Gravatar Thanks for including me in this carnival and thanks for putting this together.

Gravatar Thanks for including my post, and for all these great links!
