Sadly, it's true. I update almost daily, visit other blogs, network, etc... I have a lowly PR0. A friend of mine left his blog sit for a couple of months with no updates and somehow had a PR4. There's definitely something wrong with this picture. I'll look forward to seeing the results of your experiment!
Hehe nice post. I hope that the page rank is not mistake. The stuff I post on the blog is my own and the people who come to my blog from google search do stay on my blog(Low bounce rate).
By the way my other blog got a page rank of 2 and I didn't know that either.. =))

I seen other blogs getting page ranks with little effort but this is the highest ranked one I have encountered yet! DOn't worry, if your luck holds up, it might even increase on the next update.
One of my blogs I set up in October (crafting blog) did FOUR posts on it, didn't advertise and kind of forgot about it until May. No new posts from November to May. I decided to revive it and when I went in to write a new post, discovered it has a pr of 2. So honestly, who knows??

My cousin also has a blog that he hasn't updated in a long time, about three months. It's ranked 0 right now but who knows what will happen in the next update.

I don't get it either. I have a PR 5 and when I see other bloggers who seem to live and breathe in the virtual blogosphere with a lower PR I think "why me?"
I spend about an hour a day "in the zone" checking out blogs and networking a bit, but that's it! The rest of the time I'm painting, eating, or (dare I say it?) sleeping

kaya pala panay ang online ko at minimal ang tulog ko di naman tumataas ang page rank ko then last week di ko naman iniisip yun pagerank pagerank na yan ng mag check ako naging PR0 to PR5 na ang page ko...So now, am taking the seo thingy seriously, ang goal ko sa sunod na ranking sana ma attain ko ang PR4...am reading more and more tips to get a higher page ranking. I have been working hard to get my PR back too since losing it in Feb. Unfortunately, I transferred to a new domain during the last update so its still a 0. Hopefully, I'll get my rewrd on the next update (or else magwawala talaga ako!) He he.
I hope it is not all of the above because bloggers are doing everything to reach a high page rank.. I hope I could get PR5 hehehe

Yeah this is true.. One of my friends had a blog going for 2 months.. then he left it without any additional posts.. He got PR3 for that while the one he labors for has only PR0.. How sad.. I really don't understand Google..
I hope it is not all of the above because I know bloggers are doing everything to get a high PR

woah, that's a downer.. This month I've been updating my blog everyday I even make 2-4 posts per day if I can, but still PR0. And him, no regular posts, or even visitors I think and that high PR? Even this site have PR0? With that many subscribers and readers? What's up with that?

I lost my PR last February due to my paid posts, then moved to a new domain during the last update. I do hope Google will reward me with a good PR the next time.

Ooh, interesting topic! (BTW - I'm here via Entrecard) I don't think Page Rank is about how hard you work, it's more about what you talk about. Talking about key words and phrases that people are searching for on Google, that gives you a higher rank, and of course it has a whole lot to do with linkage, who do you link to, who links to you. I HAD a PR of 4 until Google got mad at PayPerPost and knocked me down to a 0!! Since I've worked my way back up to a 2 - maybe this Entrecard will help...

I have recently set up a blog to experiment on this "technique". Hope it works because I will be using it for paid posts if it gets a high rank! He he.
PR is all about what people are searching for. If you blog is specific to a certain topic then it should have a higher PR. Also PR is a moving target your PR will go up and down.

Google's page rank system is man made, thus not perfect. It really bugs sometime. My (former) blank page has a PR3 now.
And I believe that outgoing links can decrease the value of your page rank against incoming links, since that page had a lot of incoming but no outgoing links, it had quiet a value.

i got another picture; isn't it that blogger is under google company? :D maybe his blog is just internally being worked out to get the optimum PR. just like my wordpress.com blog before, it's got a PR4 and now my new one is a remarkable PR0. i remember, the wp.com guys once mentioned, they are working their asses off to get the wp.com blogs exposure maxxed up or something like that. but then, just a thought.

Nothing is certain as to how Google really computes PR. There are some blogs that contain virtually nothing but has a PR5 while others are (like ours) are rewarded with a big fat ZERO. Sometimes, I even think that it's all a random hit and miss thing.
