Whatever he do, there will always be criticism. I believe the most important issue here is the love of Thomas Beatie and his wife to their daughter. As for the question whether he is an exploitative father for making money out of this opportunity, I guess only he knows the answer.
I think it was necessary that the story continue after the baby's birth, as many would be curious as to the success of the pregnancy and such. So he chose to use a more reputable magazine, rather than a tabloid getting ahold of pictures and making more of a farce out of the situation than they have.
I wish this family the best of luck in raising their beautiful daughter.

That's a good point. If had not given people mag the exclusive, tabloids would have had a field day with their pictures, along with a few sensationalized gossip about the family.
You're right, selling baby pictures has become big business for celebrities. It's the new trend to make money.

Sassy Mama Bear was right in her assessment. Maybe stars are just trying to protect their baby's interest by having exclusive coverages rather than risking all-out tabloid controversy.

about thomas, to me he is not a man. she is a lesbian or a tomboy, and it's not a surprise that she can get pregnant because she is still a woman in a man's body.

Biologically, Thomas may still be a woman but legally, I think that he has been declared a man. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Since when is a woman getting pregnant and giving birth a miracle?? I've done it four times, and I've never been invited on Oprah!! Yes, he's a man now...yes, he's had some surgery...but when a person born a man (without female plumbing) gives birth...that will be news!
That poor kid is going to be so confused, not to mention the torture she'll get from kids growing up. I can't believe how selfish some people are.

hehe iba talaga pag baby ng sikat, picture pa lang million na, pero di mo din naman sila masisisi don kasi nga may nagaalok sa knila e, kaw ba naman alukin ng million e di go na diba kesa picturan lang basta ang anak ko ng libre e di pabayad na para sa baby needs din naman yun hehehe..

i think it's their choice and prerogative to be pregnant and give birth. given the fact that he already had a sex change but obviously excluding the reproductive organs, she/he had already made a choice to just go with what he wants or thinks best for her/him. it's more important that he be responsible enough for her/his family.
i think the only thing bothersome here is how will he be able to explain to his child and its would be friends and classmates about the fact that a man has indeed given birth. being the first in the world, this is really a tough situation. but, like all the other firsts in this life, you have to rise up to the challenges and obstacles and pave the way for the others to follow. hopefully, he'll have a very good explanation to children that would very much be accepted by the little minds, moreover the society that's ever evolving and adapting to life's uncertain changes.
