Gravatar I liked the Boredoms show.

Until this happened:

Gravatar so true. i can't believe people still say that.

Gravatar you know Amy, I don't know if that opening anecdote is really totally relevant... I wish I remembered how to make that 'embarassed face' emoticon! at least I didn't have to see the show that apparently made my band irrelevant. :/

Gravatar I *will* say that I was really happy to hear that Alex got in to see the show b/c of the 'mishap'!

Gravatar Is it ironic or just really appropriate that the paragraph about how "every freakout noisecore psych-drone fuckup band out there just needs to stop right now" itself reads like a less well-written version of Sasha Frere-Jones's riff on this show?

Gravatar i'll be the first to admit it-- sasha is a better writer than i am. always has been, always will be. that's why he works for the new yorker and i spend my days writing blurbs about hardcore bands for 10 cents a word.

however, i hadn't read his take on the show when i wrote mine. if i had, i wouldn't have written what i did! (or at least i would have said something like "sasha was right on here" and linked to his post).

Gravatar Don't say "always will be," stay hungry! DON'T quit and write an electroclash blog or something. In all fairness the show was so amazing that it kind of invited that kind of awed response.

Gravatar OH now i get it. you were comparing my attempts at being as good a writer as sfj to bands attempting to be as good as the boredoms. duh. i'm a little slow today.

point taken. perhaps the world does need more than one band that sounds like the boredoms, just like it needs more than one music writer.

Gravatar The world really only needs 1 band like The Boredoms
