Gravatar I read his extensive list (or rather skimmed it--hard to absorb so much research). Impressive. Thanks for linking to it in a post.

Gravatar So much for her research, huh?

Gravatar Just wanted to write in and say that I very much enjoyed the book and was disappointed that you didn't feel the same way.

I do agree that the book focuses a lot on sex, but I just took that as a part of this book's genre -- romance as opposed to history.

Perhaps I was also less disturbed because I am not observant (though trying to do more) and am not as educated as you and the other readers you cite.

Gravatar Jendeis, thanks for visiting and I hope you'll comment when we agree as well. I'm touched that a reader is disappointed with my opinion, and I hope I didn't come across as too harsh (but I probably did). My own religiosity definitely affected my feelings about the book.

Gravatar Thank you very much for linking.

To address the point made by Jendeis: To me, it's not about the sex. Rather, it's about someone claiming to have real insight into Rashi's life - more insight than the "frum community" as the author has put it in interviews - but portraying so much of inaccurately.

A read of the author's comments here might clarify what bothers me.

Gravatar Thank you for the link; I'll have to print it so as to read closely.
