Yum! Sounds more like your recipe than Nige's once you'd done with it, but with those results I think you should write your own book.

Oh it looks delightful! Even without the walnuts, which I would have absolutely included.
I had a bottle of walnut oil once and it went off because I never used it!

I love an apple cake and will definitely be trying this one. It's not pretty, but it sounds lovely.

I've made this before, it's such a good, unfussy recipe. But yeah, she isn't kidding about the stiff batter. Looks absolutely perfect to have with a cup of tea

I have a wonderful apple cake recipe that someone gave me years and years ago that uses orange juice. It is a wonderfully moist cake, perfect for snacks or breakfast. I think you're right. Apple cake is always good.

I have made this once in the past with the walnut oil and walnuts and loved it (even thought I like pecans better). However, I never used the walnut oil again but maybe once for a salad dressing so next time I will use olive oil. A perfect recipe for this fall when all the apple picking can commence!

Hi
just love this blog - always worth reading! I've made this cake before, and I would sooo recommend adding in the nuts (I used pecans cos it was all I had at the time) but the big thing is the cinnamon! LIfts it into the realm of the sublime, especially when served warm with a scoop of vanilla icecream ....
