We had a cat who started yowelling but only at night (during the day she was a generally healthy, normal cat). We attributed it to feline senility. We had a two level house, so we started shutting her on to the lower level (or at least out of our bedrooms). Try a towel along the bottom of the door to keep out the access noise.
Truth be told, I'm not sure that's what it actually was, but it didn't seem to bother her generally happy life, so we went along with it. She passed on about 3 years after that of old age (didn't seem to be related to the yowelling).
