I think a good way to look at too, is the health care provider really means "what is your physical sex"? I mean, it's stupid of them to use "gender" when they mean "What tests should I order for you?"

I do not anything particularly constructive to say, I just happened to relate to this post quite well. I have no problem with identifying my sex as female, I have no intention of trying to alter that in any way. However, whenever confronted with the question of gender I am hesitant. I am certainly not male and I am not trans- but there are so many things attached to checking that "female" box that I do not identify with.
