this is typical of pretty much every movement ever. the people in power look for dividing lines that power structures have already pre-created in society and make use of them. one of the largest problems, as i see it, is a lack of radical and complex understanding of 'the system'. no one is free until everyone is free. the various systems of oppression around the world are all interconnected and while steps may be taken to improve situations for specific social groups, there will always be prejudice and hate in all its different forms until all people are free. race, sex, sexuality, gender identity, class, immigration status, etc. all interconnect to oppress us all and divide us all and thus ALL movements must work together to support each other. once a movement caves to a high power and betrays another group they are already re-enforcing the heirarchical thought processes that will eventually come back and bite them in the ass. when white nazi women co-opted the fight for women and blacks to vote it ended up pushing the women's movement far more to the right than had originally intended. we can't let these people force us to 'choose' who deserves rights and who doesn't - ALL people deserve to be free and live their lives! yea!!!
