This article is yet another attempt to condone the unfortunate practice of bug-chasing/gift-giving. The writer attributes the backlash against the phenomenon to conservatives and cites the single example of his anti-gay marriage conservative teacher passing out literature on the subject in class.

This is a serious detriment to the gay community. Chasers and givers are severely depressed individuals. More resources are needed to combat the disproportionately high level of depression in the gay community, which of course comes with social progress.
