Hey tom.
I think it is better to be honourable than smooth any day.You didn't know cos you hadn't checked the word so it was good to be up front about that.
I had to laugh when you said bugger
I feel for you mate - uncomfortable moment.
I'm not sure what I would draw from the death of Jonathan.
I guess that dying in Battle is not a bad reminder that following God and going along with His plans is not always fun and games and light and laughter and sometimes we don't always do well or get protected.
Doing what God wanted got Jonathan killed - but it is better to die doing the work of the Lord working with God's purposes than working against them and fall into such despair and hopelessness that you take your own life.
The cool thing is that I wouldn't have heard your sermon or your thoughts or had the thoughts I had above or be encouraged to think about where I may be walking my own way, and the despair I sometimes feel when I don't, if you hadn't made that mistake.
So, thanks. I'm downloading the sermon and looking forward to having a listen and finding out what else God will say through it. Will be a good part of my Sabbath morning.
