Gravatar Pat also appears in "Divorce American Style," a 1967 farce with Dick Van Dyck and Debbie Reynolds. I know she was still doing her act in Vegas in the '90s.

Gravatar Can you imagine Pat Collins and The Amazing Kreskin in a head-to-head hypnotizing match?

PAT: "You are falling deeply asleep..."

KRESKIN: "No...I'm afraid YOU are falling asleep!"

PAT: "Sleep!"

KRESKIN: "No, YOU sleep...and while you're at it, bark like a dog and quack like a duck!..."

Though I was but a wee, speechless and uneducated tyke, I do remember Miss Collins (and her towering, hypno-tizin' beehive) on the Merv (Griffin, richest man on earth) and Mike (Douglas) and Johnny (Carson) talk shows

Next to LA Mayor Sam Yorty, Pat Collins was the best at putting people to sleep back in the Swingin' 60s (not an easy task, with everybody hyped-up on drugs and irrational-yet-youthful energy...)

It looks like she even guest-starred on HONEY WEST, which gives here even more valid "HIP" credentials.

Surely Pat must have had her own TV show at some point...maybe there's a PAT pilot or two floating around somewhere.

And why isn't Pat Collins iconography out there like that of Bettie Page or Che Guevera or The Ramones??

In fact why isn't Pat Collin's image on t-shirts and coffe mugs (and mouse pads) everywhere?

There's a ton of money to made off of exploiting Pat's HIP retro image...a little licensing from her estate is all it would take.

thanks - BENBENEK

Gravatar Awesome... it's the woman from the Luxuria Music spot!

Gravatar Pat Collins did her performance in the early 60's at clubs untill she opened her own club on the Sunset strip at the corrner of Sunset and Doheny next to gil Turners Liquer. Where she did her show and also held self hypnosis classes.

Then in the early 80 she closed the club and moved to Reno Nv and performed at the MGM and in Tahoe. She only did a breaf apperence in Las Vegas about 1981.

She appeared on almost every talk show you can think of from late 60's through the 70's. ( I would love to have copies of them if any one has one)

She played her self in Divorice American Style, The Lucy Show, & an episode of the Bill Dana Show. She played a cariture called BABS IVAR in an eposode of the Honey West Show. She was also on an episode of Whats my line and a show called No Time for Seargents.

She made 2 record albums the one listed here and another called Sleep With Pat Collins.

She never did a tv show although it would have been great. I am sure that she was concerned about people thinking it was rigged.

She became ill and in her 60's decided to stop performing and moved back to southern california where she passed in 1997.

If you would like her image on coffie mug or other items please let me know.

Thanks for reading and keeping her memory alive.

Gravatar Actually, I took her course in hypnosis at the Celebrity Club back in the late 1970's. It was a lot of fun, and she was quite a good teacher. I actually use some of her techniques to this day. Nice to see her face again.

Gravatar Has anybody on this site ever hear of editing? You made Ms. Grenet and Pat Collins look terrible with what must be a dozen misspellings and/or grammatical errors.
I saw Pat Collins at least a dozen times in Vegas and Los Angeles, and while I never volunteered to "sleep with her", I watched as many of my friends did! She was a great entertainer. I still have a photo of myself with her that I cherish.

Gravatar Patrick Tierney - About the editing part:
1) I'm Swedish. I do not dare to edit texts in English.
2) If you're leaving a comment like this one on a blog like this it's already there for everyone to see.
3) I have no problem with Maelene's feedback.
4) If you want to edit the text, feel free to do so and send it to me at:
mrdantefontana@gmail.com

My intention was good at heart and I didn't mean to make anybody look bad. I guess most readers do understand that. I just wanted to forward the comment and the information within it.

Thanks.

Gravatar I remember she had 8-10 VHS video machines at the back of the showroom every night for EVERY performance so on stage clients could get a video of themselves on stage. there must have been HUNDERDS of these made over the years. It would be a GREAT homage to have some of these moments on the site.
does anybody have a copy of the show?
e-mail me please.

Gravatar I remember a lot as well... her wigs surrounded the top of her bedroom all the way around the room on a high shelf. The best thing she did was to have 2 beautiful daughters, Collette and Maelene, mae being my half sister. brings back memories...

She was a trip, thats for sure ~

Gravatar This is pretty interesting

Gravatar Maelene is Ms Collins 2nd daughter.

Gravatar Hello – I saw your post on: http://lets-talk.com/hypnoticref...my- work_23.html

Is there some reason that we can’t find an old VHS tape of your grandmothers show? I saw the show over 30 times and took her classes. The show was incredible! Different each time- I remember she had 6-8 VHS tape machines at the back of the room, going on for EACH SHOW, so stage participants could buy a copy. This went on for years. I have been looking for a copy of the show and would pay $200.00 just for the honor of seeing her again.

I’ve looked on the internet for the last 6 years and NOBODY responds. Has no one in your family have ANY video record of her Celebrity Club show? Somehow I just know that there are maybe hundreds of tapes out there, floating in private collections. Maybe a more concerted effort from the “family” could locate one? by posting on the net?

What a shame we can’t have at least clips, of the sunset blvd. show. NOTHING could say more of her talent and healing that at real clip. People can talk all they want, but the video would really let new people in on the original experience.

Gravatar I became good friends with Pat, while she was appearing at the Crystal Bay Club at North Lake Tahoe two summers in the mid-1960's. She first put me under while I was in her audience (I was a skeptic at the time) and many times after that. She told me that she learned hypnosis from a practitioner in Puerto Rico. She travelled with a gay hairdresser, who's name escapes me. She was often referred to as this country's Sophia Loren. I was amazed at her talents and ability to put people under, and blend it into a great stage show. I'm sorry to hear of her passing.

Gravatar Hello,
I just found out today about Miss Collins through a lady who went to a couple of her shows. I was an employee when she had her club on Sunset.
Do you know how I can get in touch with her daughter Collette?
If you could give her my email address
that would be great.

Miss Collins was a wonderful person and I will as I have been keep her in my prayers.

Alexander

Gravatar Hello, I have been looking for a great friend for several years. She is Pat's daughter, Collette. Please e-mail me. Please just tell Collette "Vanilla Milk". She'll know!
Thank you so very much for any help.

Gravatar Debbie, Alexander and others -
PCL LinkDump (this blog) has no contact to Pat Collins' relatives, friends or co-workers. We are just providing the album share and some facts. But the comments are appreiated nethertheless.

Gravatar I did see Pat Collins perform in 1992 in Las Vegas (at least I think it was Vegas, I did go to Tahoe that year as well but I thought the show I saw was in Vegas). After the show I spoke with her for a few minutes, she was very gracious. I mentioned I had recently seen the "Lucy Show" episode that she appeared on and she told me the story of how she accidentally hypnotized Lucille Ball during the taping.

She also did a few specials in the 80's for the Showtime network and I would love to see those again.

Gravatar Someone on another site posted that the News Anchor Rita Cosby was Pat Collins' daughter. I have no reason to believe this is true and at this point figure it is probably spurious noise but if anyone can verify that or disprove it....one way or the other, any information at all? I would appreciate it.

Thank You

KJH
