You should meet Langer's, at 7th and Alvarado (around the corner from the Red Line: up the stairs, to the left, and across the street in the same direction). The pastrami is worth the trip, even if it does blow the fat restriction for the day.

I've heard about Langer's and have been meaning to go there for some time. There's also supposed to be a very good tamale place in the same neighborhood, on the south side of MacArthur Park. Maybe one of these days...
