Gravatar These are all good points, many of which I wish I'd know when I bought my first (and last) TS. You laid it out so well, I couldn't help but realize I knew next to nothing about TSs when I got in--and quite honestly (or dishonestly), the TS industry would prefer to keep it that way.
It seems your experience was somewhat aided by having bought a TS with some value. Manyy of us aren't so lucky. The most unlucky usually have to pay someone to take it off our hands--and after what I'd been though, I leapt for joy at the prospect.
For anyone in bad situation, there are a number of companies that perform these services. From what I've found (and as you might expect) some are better than others. And some, it seems, are downright frauds. One of the best and largest and better known is Timeshare Relief. I finally went with them and in addition to "getting a good deal", the transaction went off without a hitch. They all have websites.

Gravatar I've been looking into selling my timeshare because, if you read the rest of the site, you'd see that we are just in over our heads financially and it would be one less bill to pay. But so far, my research turns up nothing even coming near 1/2 value. Like you, I wish I had done my homework first but the lure and the sales techniques are so strong. But we knew in our hearts we were making a mistake because we kept the buy "secret" from most people we knew for a while. Ah, to learn.

Gravatar Unless you want to be treated with a lot of dis-respect, I would not recomend to anybody to buy timeshares
