Ah yes my friendy, I too recall on too many occassions telling you that this boy would eventually grow up and realize just how blessed he was to get you in his life. And that he would 'come right' and I can totally see the shift in your and his relationship. How utterly amazing for u all!! As you know, I always had a bit of a soft spot for David and would often defend his behavior albeit appalling at times... Cos I just knew there was a good okie in there somewhere!! I am extremely happy that this has happened. Being the person in the middle of the ongoing war was not pleasant and was very worrisome as I had loyalties to both sides and did not want to be seen as taking anyones side. I always knew that eventually this would resolve itself as both of you are amazing individuals it was just a matter of time. David is a wonderful young man who is what he is today partly because of you, Dawn, your focus on standing by your principles and treating all of the kids the same and not standing down, has had a marked effect on David. David has turned into a wonderful young man, principled, intelligent, understanding and a very very good carpenter!!!!

Pour yourself a cup of something....this is going to be LONG. Not in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine there would be healing and room for a love filled relationship between you and David. I honestly have to admit there were times I wanted to scream at you to stop being nice because of how shattered you were each time you were slapped back. Knowing myself, I probably did scream at you. I honor you for the commitment, tenacity and love you poured into this relationship Dawnie. You were right. I apologize - I was wrong. Please know that all my protective instincts were rubbed raw watching you go through the torment dished out in liberal amounts by both Alex and David. All the “teachings” tell us that love will always prevail. This relationship – yours and David’s is living proof of that. David has matured into a talented and sweet young man with a bright future ahead of him. It has been a heartwarming pleasure to watch your family blossom like a beautiful flower. Although I have not been there from the beginning and don't know the complete history, as a fellow step-mom, I know how it feels to finally get to the place where stepchildren truly become your own. It's a long and difficult journey, but SO worth it! Congratulations Dawn, to you and your whole precious family. Rick and I love you all!
