Fred Phelps, voted "Most Likely to be a Sniper Hit"...
Phelps is the poster child of all those who want to restrict free speach.
He is a living example of Michael Douglas' speech in "The American President." (Paraphrased from faulty memory.) Being an American isn't easy. Being a good American citizen is hard. You've got to be willing to defend to the death the right of some idiot to scream out something that you would gradly spend the rest of your life screaming against.
I fondly hope that when Phelps time is up he will have the same kind of greeting at the Gates that most here feel that the average terrorist will receive. Except for the IED's I don't see much difference.
I think it was the governor of Kansas (where Phelps is from) who once said something like "What's up with Phelps is between him and God, but I'd sure like to be there for the conversation". I just hope he as the conversation sooner than later.
And I know you guys know this but just to be sure. Phelps does not represent the views of most people on soldiers and what you guys do for us.
Except maybe for some potheads on some college campuses, but I think thats more because soldiers are very popular now with most of the ladies (and some of the men). So your chances of getting laid when you get back have definitely improved.

She was one of mine. I never knew her, never heard her name...but she was a 116th soldier...one of mine...I attended her departure ceremony...saluted her flag draped casket...and now I am ANGRY!!!!!!!
Now if only I was up there with a water balloon launcher from the next block over. I'm not up to killing someone for being an a$$hat, but it sure does make them fair game to some vicious pranks.
I really liked how the police handled the situation. They blocked those nuts in so they were barely noticable. Then the firetrucks arrived and blocked them completely from view.
I cannot undertand people like Phelps who try to desecrate the memory of someone who served our country so faithfully and gave all.
I went to their web-site and it is replusive. I checked their schedule to see if they would be in my area and thank God, they seem to avoid the South.
I pray for the family of Carrie French. May they have peace knowing that Carrie French is honored by those who served with her and by we who did not know her.

I am appalled that Phelps is a "Minister" or even among the living. Makes me want to stand up stronger and louder for the American Soldier. I don't understand people like him and his following. I will always respect the American Soldier for what they have done for us and our country!
..Oh that Reverend Phelps..How about "a**wipe".."s*** for brains"..just to start..it's a damn shame what happen to Matthew Shepard..And I ain't Gay..And That's just how much of an impression this "a**hole" Phelps made on me..Take care all..Semper Fi..

I attended a military funeral last week to block the idiot. I was blown away from the signs that he had. I can't believe he stoops that low and be so stupid. Send his butt to Iraq and have them throw IED's at him and see how he likes it.
I have just come back from Iraq and as a combat engineer have been in direct contact with these ied's almost daily. Some of my friends and i are going to the vfw to try and organize a group to "counter" these idiots and help bring the honor back to these military funerals. If anyone has info on where i can find out where these people will be i greatly appriciate it.

Don't be so hard on the inbred imbecile. He's is just a superstitious "squeal like a pig for me" hillbilly and we should consider ourselves lucky that he's only protesting military funerals and not sacrificing virgins to his god that hates gays.
