Dear Papa,
I'm still laughing at the photos. You're really a fun pontiff. Glad you enjoyed your first WYD.

Papa Benedetto,
We like the lacey rochetto you've been sporting w/your choir dress. Any chance we'll start seeing the fiddleback chasuble again any time soon?

Dear Papa,
What lovely pictures. I couldn't help laughing for sheer joy at your adventures. That wind was certainly bothersome, eh?
Your brother was very kind to create this photo album for you. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Papa,
Please don't go back to fiddle back vestments, they look so silly.
It must be nice to have so many ways to get pictures of your trips. I saw most of your trip via EWTN. They did a great job I thought of coverage.
My boss, a priest from the US was there, but he is so low on the totem pole that he was so far away that he never got close to you. He is a humble man. I love working for him.
Keep up the good work, BTW. double sided tape works really well on those big collars, for the next time you are in a bad wind.
love you.

Inquisitorgeneralis,
We can only hope to see wider use of traditional vestments and the disappearance of the rainbow colored stoles with tacky felt Jesus fishes sewn on them. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is something special and should be treated as such. Thank you for writing.
God bless you.

Anna,
Thank you for writing. That wind was troublesome indeed. For a moment there I had even wondered if I was being sabotaged by a gang of alternative-spirituality-environuns conjuring up their spirit of the wind in an attempt to keep the youth from orthodoxy.
Thankfully, the grace of God prevailed and I had a most pleasant experience transmitting the Truth to the youth.
God bless you.

I think I saw your priest way in the back. If I remember correctly, he was wearing black with a white collar. Tell him I said, “Hi” and that I send him my blessing. Thanks for the collar tip.

I'm curious, what occasion did you wear street clothes for?
By the way, the shirt color is all wrong for you. It made you guys look too pale (you're in the same color). While your eyes are blue, you need a paler blue shirt to make you look like you have color in your face. And a lighter tie would be better too...
But I prefer your pope clothes. You DO look good in those, right down to your little red shoes.

Wait, wait...I take the color comments back. I looked on my husband's monitor and the shirt color looks fine. Darn it. I'd have to see it in person. Nevermind. Though I might have given you a nice subtle patterned tie instead of the black one...

Good morning, Papa B!
If your big brother's like mine, I bet George likes to tease you sometimes. I notice that in those pictures with your brother, only half of your figure appears. When he made this album for you, did he make a corny wisecrack about the photos of him and "my half brother Joseph"? If he does, I suggest you assign him a little penitential reading: Genesis 25:23. Lovingly, of course.
Ciao for now, Papa!

Chris:
Wasn't Nil the kid in class who, when the bell rang at the end of the day (on Friday), after the teacher said "have a nice weekend", he would say: "but aren't you going to give us any homework?". Which prompted the teacher to say "Oh I forgot, thank you Nil. Ok class, read 'War and Peace' over the weekend". Then you just wanted to beat him up.
Oh and hi papa...love you

Most Holy Father,
One small flash of footage I saw featured (presumably a protest group) that had constructed a large purple dinosaur (probably meant to be a tyrannosaur)wearing a mitre and carrying a crozier. Doubtless, this was meant to suggest that your Holiness is behind the times. But it was a quite attractive prehistoric reptile and very well done for all that.
Did you see this feature? Had time permitted, it might have been an interesting moment for you to confront these protesters and comment upon how nice the dinosaur looked, but that - sadly, like women, dinosaurs cannot be validly ordained...
In any case, how wrong can protesters be?! You? behind the times??? NEVER!!!
I look forward to seeing you upon your arrival here in 2008. Apart from possibly temporarily rejoining my former employers (the New South Wales Police) so as to be stationed in Security for your visit, there's also the possibility of my being involved in World Mis-Spent Youth Day, as per another blog...
God Bless you, Holiness...

Romulus,
Thank you for writing. It’s funny how you mention the half-brother thing. When we were kids, George used to tell me I was really adopted and it would upset me so. I guess that is what big brothers are for.

Jack,
Thank you for writing. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the Anti-Pope Barney I. It saddens me that people would put themselves outside the Church, but I do find a bit of humor in how silly they can be about it.
I am looking forward to WYD in Australia. Now that I know you are a police officer, I’ll make sure we have coffee and donuts out, that way I am sure to meet you.
God bless you.

Holy Father,
I would have loved to come to your WYD, however I exceed the age limit... by only a smidgen of course. I understand the Lufthansa pilot did a close fly-by over your childhood home on your way back to Rome.
Don't worry about misbehaving vestments, you'll get the hang of them very soon. Besides, we Americans are just grateful it wasn't a "wardrobe malfunction" of another nature.
Love,

You're really never too old for WYD. The key is to sneak in by claiming to be a chaperone. I'll look forward to seeing you in the Land Down Under.

Dear Papa,
Since your election I've grown to love you more and more. These photos (which are so wonderfully whimsical!) capture your warmth and kindness so well. Please thank Fr. Georg for sending them along -- and I think you look great in anything, whether "civvies" or Papal vestments. Ciao, and have a good day. BTW, my cats are all well and happy. I hope Chico was glad to see you when you returned from WYD.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you at WYD. I was the soaking wet girl with the Canadian flag at the meeting of the Seminarians. No. I was not protesting male only ordination. I was outside. In fact, I made a point of checking out St. Edith Stein's convent down the road while I waited for your arrival.
Thanks for the smile by the way. It made a great picture. If you haven't seen it yet, feel free to check out my blog.
