My opinion of both the books and the movies is that they get worse with each incarnation. I think the first in both remain my favorites, as they are just cute little movies about kids who happen to be wizards. The teen angst and gothic wannabe crap just didn't interest me as much.
I have not seen the last two movies, though, so maybe I am missing something. The girl that plays Hermoine is very attractive for a whatever-year-old.

I caught HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF MXYZPTLK on cable once, and after a deadening first half hour, liked it. Was told that, by coincidence, the only Potter film I'd seen was considered the best. Yours is the first review of the new one, suggesting that it's better.

I don't really like any of the movies and couldn't say that one was much better than another. The Prisoner of Azbeckstan, or wherever, was a bit interesting because it was directed by Alphonso Cuaron and you can recognize his distinctive color palette. Otherwise they're pretty much all a bunch of dreck. I'm happy if I'm not horribly, horribly bored.
