He's a disappointment. It's just one more time I'll be casting a vote for the lesser of two evils, another drop in the bucket of futility.

What's to be disappointed about? You see, that's the problem with optimism, not to mention the crazy belief that there is such a thing as a Democratic party. But I'm a long way from thinking of Senator Obama as evil.
I just find it interesting that so many Democratic candidates robotically follow the conventional wisdom off a cliff-- moving to the right in the general election, stabbing your base in the stomach and twisting the knife up and down through most the vital organs--is a good strategy.
They couldn't be that stupid, you'd think? No, the beauty of the go right strategy is that even on the off-chance it fails and the Republican is so bad that the Democrat still gets elected, then the Democrat cannot actually accomplish anything. The slide away from democracy is slowed, but not stopped. The status quo is maintained. Everybody wins. Everybody except everybody.

I'm disappointed not necessarily because he's moving right...I have always been lukewarm on all of the major primary candidates except for Kucinich and Edwards towards the end...but because, presuming Obama gets elected, Democrats will be telling us how wonderful Obama is while he helps maintain the status quo, a status quo that does nothing to benefit any of us.
I'm also disappointed in him, too, I guess. For someone that is clearly in it for himself, he is really doing himself a disservice by pandering to anyone. All he has to do is say, "Look at me. I'm young. I'm hip. I can deliver speeches well. Vote for him." He would win just on that alone. That he feels the need to kick his original voting block in the process is disappointing.

Amazing that I lost my sense of grammar in the middle of typing.
