See, I didn't think they cut sports in most high schools. The jocks were the most prized and privileged in any public school I've been in or around. Not that I hate sports, quite the opposite, but athletics always seem to take precedence over music, art, etc.
Maybe it is different in New York, though.

Yea, speaking for the rest of the country, you're probably right that they're not cutting a lot of sports. Well, maybe girl's sports. I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised.
I don't think New York City public schools even have sports to cut.
But I can tell you that it's the art classes that really separate the wealthy private schools from the very best public schools.
