Gravatar Never heard of the 100 Word before but it's bookmarked now. I LOVE that sort of thing - damn that sounds sad.

Nice passage on the wedding cake.

I'm currently house sitting for friends who are terrific people. However, they have their wedding cake under glass - from 1987. I thought that was really creepy. Thanks to the Internet, I've learned that some couples keep their cakes to eat on their 25th anniversary.

Nope, still creepy.

Gravatar Best wedding cake ever: at the one in California, the groom's cake was a life-sized Uga (UGA's mascot, a bulldog). Priceless. And it was white-velvet (might've seemed demented if it was red velvet). Amazing what they can do with cake in California.

Great post.

Gravatar Loved that Melissa! I think I'll have to try this challenge out too...
but very creative take on "pillar"!

Gravatar Melissa, this is terrific! I'd love to know where the inspiration came from -- that really is an awesome twist on the prompt.

I need to catch up so I can see what everyone else has been up to.

Gravatar This looks like fun. So, you take the word of the week and create a 100 word post around it? Interesting.

Gravatar Very witty interpretation of the word. And a very, VERY nice piece.

Gravatar p.s. Tomorrow I am participating in a Meme - it's a fiction - a story - being written by bloggers from all over the world. If you look at my page, in the upper left corner there's a set of links to previous chapters - including my first one - Part 4. Read them - catch up - see if you like the idea - and if the notion strikes you, email Lilly and tell her you'd like to write one.

Gravatar So cool, what a cool idea. I'm hopping over to check it out.
Oh, and thanks for your comment about the horse's rearend

Gravatar ha ha

and too, too true about putting more effort into the day than into the commitment

Gravatar Hahaha! Nicely done. It is excellent how people use the prompts differently. I like this.

Gravatar i had never heard of this challenge and am very intrigued. i'm also wondering if there really is such a thing as a divorce cake - i'm willing to bet that there is...

Gravatar I had to giggle (if not a little cynically) at this one. My mother is a florist and my brother a wedding photographer, so I get to hear many a bride story.

Having been married, I know how important THAT day can loom up in your mind, but it seems to me that there is some correlation between how much importance is placed on that day being perfection and the decreased chances of any importance being placed on the marriage itself.

Thanks for an entertaining little piece.
