Since I could never get NBComments to work in a sane way, I've giving up and jumped ship. I blame all my grief on the suspicion that some of the features in PHP and MySQL that NBComments relied on are disabled by SF.net, probably for security reasons. So, I switched to Haloscan.

n1xt3r: I think you're issues with NB Comments were actually due to its flaky coding. I never got it to stop having PHP Session issues on a server for which I had full control.
You could recommend the following commenting software to your users.

my friend developed this small engine in javascript which allows to add comments to any site with just one line of HTML code. No registration required.
It is new so some features are missing but he is working on it.

p.s. nice web log engine, just discovered it, would try it myself
